Thursday, May 8, 2008. Last night marked my first field hockey game since 1999. At the end of the evening, I was so wobbly I could hardly fully depress my clutch for the short drive home. I have rough ridges inside my upper lip from the chaffing of my mouth guard, and I likely still have shin-guard-shaped indentations on my legs. I even have my first war wound. As good as that feat feels, it'll sure be nice to play with a full team. And subs. And maybe an inhaler? Monday, May 5, 2008. A and K Adventures.

Saturday, February 23, 2008. Is there anything more simply joyous than having your little niece sing songs to you via video-conferencing? The ABC Song (now with all the letters remembered). Row Row Row Your Boat. Then to see her speeding off to the playroom, only to return to say good-bye and blow kisses at you. And then to have your little nephew come up and run away crying when you say hello. Saturday, February 16, 2008. You know your dad is a pilot when. Tuesday, February 12, 2008. I have no words.

Day 1: Drive out and start with a hike after setting up camp. There were some cool ice formations on the creek:. No sweat," says Dad. "This was posted 3 weeks ago, and the part of the trail that's closed just barely touches briefly on the trail we're taking. Let's go. We'll be fine.". After several "Are you sure? Thursday, September 25, 2008. Ode to my neighbour. On a completely different note, I've decided to post a list of hazards for pedestrian commuters:. 1 Bugs that fly up your nose when you're walking along at a good clip. Or just walking along. 4 Being stuck behind someone who's either smoking or, perhaps worse, someone who obviously thinks they have a great cologne/perfume, which actually reminds you of IT or Doom, both of which tend to kill dudus dead. Thus ends my pedestrian wisdom for today.

Tuesday, November 17, 2009. So hello. it's been a while. i'm going to try to remember what's happened since march 6 - this might prove difficult, given that i tend not to be able to remember what happened this morning. Day 1 of my 12-day work week that included 45 or so hours of overtime in the first 7 days and a lot of take-out. Easter with the family. The day my niece was born 6 weeks early; july 4. To all you moms out there - wow). The day of my grandma's 80th unbirthday party and a roadtrip through t...

All kinds of things are here. Sunday, December 28, 2008. The History of the Blessed Ammonius. Palladius speaks of Ammonius and his siblings, who had all been disciples of Rabba Pambo and founded both a men's and a women's monastery. Ammonius' ascetical practice included wounding himself whenever a carnal thought entered his mind, and refraining from any cooked foods. He had both the Old and New Testaments memorized and would also read contemporary theology. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered...

Sunday, March 30, 2008. If you've never driven through the Canadian Rockies, let me introduce you to a few of the sites you'd see if you were to do so. If you have, well, let this be a walk down Memory Lane. As you head west, this is probably one of the best scenes you'll see - the promise of exiting the flat yellowlands and entering the twisting roads and towering, majestic heights of the Rockies:. In case you can't tell, it was a beautiful day for a drive through the mountains:. Monday, March 3, 2008.
