Home is where the heart is, so your real home's in your chest. -Captain Hammer. This weekend, the bombshell got a HUGE face lift! This picture of the front of the house was taken in january. We started by taking off the siding. Then we knocked out the sheathing that was underneath. We also took out the old windows and framed in two new ones that are the same size. Framed in a new doorway and hung new osb sheathing. Here's the "after" picture! New sill plate, bye bye old front door. Replacing a sill plate.

Home is where the heart is, so your real home's in your chest. -Captain Hammer. Last weekend we finished taking down the old and putting up the new kitchen wall! It was uber exciting to see the finished product - i love the way it opens up the room and makes it look lots bigger. i think it's going to look SO good! Here's my dad nailing the king stud to the 12' beam that will span the length of the room. With the beam all snug in place, we could take the brace walls down. Yippee for visual progress! The w...

Home is where the heart is, so your real home's in your chest. -Captain Hammer. I haven't posted in a while because i've been really busy with work and volleyball. here's some pics of my girls at our tournament in yakima. : ). Work on the house is going much slower than i expected or that i'd like. i've come to realize that my estimation abilities are not very good. from here on out, i should take into account that everything is going to take twice as long as i think. The puppies went bye-bye! That's my ...

Home is where the heart is, so your real home's in your chest. -Captain Hammer. Now that I have my own place, I want to cook more and use more organic ingredients. Are any of you fellow gardeners/cooks interested in starting a gardening “co-op” in my back yard? Initially I’ll need some help setting up the terraces and planting. After the garden is up and running, we’ll just need to do weekly weeding/maintenance. I’ll take care of the daily watering, etc. Let me know if you’re interested! Here is what the...

Home is where the heart is, so your real home's in your chest. -Captain Hammer. It's not that i was necessarily expecting to pass the electrical inspection on the first shot.that would have been downright naive. It's just that i didn't expect it to be such a major fail. The bright spot is that the local inspector is very cool.lots of fun to talk to and not at all anal in that i-have-the-power-to-shut-you-down kind of way that lots of inspectors are. So, yeah.i'll be hiring someone for that, too. The Begi...

Home is where the heart is, so your real home's in your chest. -Captain Hammer. Have i talked about how fabulous my parents are today? I had a volleyball tournament this weekend, so my mom and dad worked at my house. on saturday they installed a new window in the kitchen that will be right above the sink.pretty fabulous, eh? On monday, my team had an early departure from the tournament, so i was able to get to my house and help install a new door in the side of the garage. Yupthat's how you make a door.

Home is where the heart is, so your real home's in your chest. -Captain Hammer. We took a holiday from working on the house over the fouth of july weekend. i had a fabulous birthday and a fun get together with friends at the beach. It was a great little break, but now we're back to work! The last few weeks we've been replacing the electrical. we're replacing everything, except one 240v outlet in the garage, including the main panel. We're almost done - we have three more breakers in the house to attach, ...
