It’s ‘Ball’ Time. March 1, 2013. Tonight, I’m going to experience one of my favorite parts of Czech culture–a traditional Ball (or ‘Ples’, in Czech). Many students take dancing lessons during high school where they learn how to dance the Waltz, Polka, Jive, and other dances. Masopust! | An Adam Abroad

February 14, 2013. On Tuesday I celebrated Mardi Gras (or Fat Tuesday) in a typical Czech fashion at my town’s ‘Masopust’ festival. Masopust at the City Hall. Masopust basically means “meat celebration.” Just like Mardi Gras, people will spend the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday stuffing their face with meat and fatty food as a last-ditch effort to consume unhealthy things before fasting for the Lenten season. 8220;Do you want some weird meat stuff? Yup I ate it. Thanks to this kid, I had 3 shots by 3:30pm.

My Adventures down the Mississippi and in South/ Central America. March 28, 2014. My name’s Adam Spanier and I’ve got a new website called River Road Adventures. Basically, after completing my Fulbright in the Czech Republic, I spent two months canoeing down the Mississippi River (from the Headwaters to just North of New Orleans), and then I biked through parts of Central and South America for four months. It was a crazy adventure and I suggest at least checking out the photos. Canoeing through Lake Pepin.
