The Carers Home Support Scheme. Providing services for carers throughout the Adur District, which covers Fishersgate, Southwick, Shoreham, Sompting and Lancing. Support is available through the two parts of the scheme:. The Home Visiting Service. A trained volunteer befriends the cared-for person and sits with them in their own home, enabling the carer to have a break for 2-4 hours per week. The 'Home from Home' Respite Service. ALL THE SERVICES ARE SUBJECT TO ASSESSMENT AND AVAILABLE RESOURCES.

The Adur Carers Association. Adur Carers Association is a registered charity committed to supporting anyone in the Adur district who is caring, or has recently been caring, for someone. The Association operates independently of all statutory and private agencies, but has the backing of Adur District Council, Social Services and the Health Authority. It is run by a Management Committee comprising carers, former carers, volunteers and professionals.

Carers who are "providing or intending to provide a substantial amount of care on a regular basis" are entitled to ask Social Services for an Assessment of their own needs. "Substantial" and "Regular" are not defined in the relevant legislation, but if your caring role is having a significant impact on your life, then you are very likely to be entitled to an assessment. In most cases, the most effective course of action will be to ask for an assessment of the person who you care for.

The Adur Concert Band: an introduction
The Adur Concert Band. The leading wind band in Adur District, West Sussex. The Adur Concert Band. Rehearses in Southwick, West Sussex, UK, and we play concerts all year round in the South East of England. The Adur Band grew out of the Adur Youth Concert Band in 1991. And in 2001 changed its name to The Adur Concert Band to properly reflect the type of band it had become. The band has a membership from Shoreham, Hove, Brighton, Worthing, Steyning and as far away as Crawley and Chichester.
