Is politics falling into the same trap as business? « Adventures in Good Business

Adventures in Good Business. Is politics falling into the same trap as business? By Adventures in Good Business. After being inspired by a recent article by Paul Polman of Unilever entitled ‘The Remedies for Capitalism’ (see here. I quickly became the pessimist again after seeing the latest publicity from the UK’s Labour Party on the fight for ‘responsible capitalism’ (see here. So why have they focused on executive pay? We need the Polmans of this world to go into politics. January 10, 2012 at 1:58 pm.

Adventures in Good Business. Forget road closures and local missile emplacements for one moment. By Adventures in Good Business. Us Brits are very good at polite conversation and a combination of horrific summer weather and the world descending on London is causing an explosion in small talk between Londoners. Whether they archived all of these targets or not will no doubt be highlighted to me shortly but we have to try and not forget the wider role LOCOG have played in pushing the sustainability agenda ...

Bike locks in Scandinavia « Adventures in Good Business

https://adventuresingoodbusiness.wordpress.com/2012/09/26/bike-locks-in-scandinavia

Adventures in Good Business. Bike locks in Scandinavia. By Adventures in Good Business. It's therefore a huge surprise when visiting cities like Oslo, Stockholm and Helsinki to repeatedly see bikes left unlocked outside shops and resting on walls. Is it that Londoners are just more likely to steal? Do we spend too much on bikes? Or is it a reflection of a deeper social trend? It makes your realise that change can occur through small, subtle shifts to how we live and work and striving for a revolution may...

Adventures in Good Business. I wish my 1,000th follower hadn’t been a stripper…. By Adventures in Good Business. Firstly apologies for the delay since my last blog- some role changes, lots of trips and some technological problems have broken my flow in writing. We are all quick to mock the social media world – and I do agree that publishing your mundane daily tasks or drunken aintics over the web is not interesting- but CSR professionals should realise that the landscape is rapidly changing and the...

Adventures in Going and Growing. Tales of the attempt to live a sustainable and engaged life as we travel and build a home. The Biggest Of Environmental Disasters. November 9, 2016. The fact of the matter is that the results of this election make it more likely that global warming will rapidly pass the ‘dangerous’ 2 degree level and global temperatures could rise by 4 degrees or more. This decision will reverberate for, literally, thousands of years. Update After a Very Busy Summer. September 12, 2016.

Observations on using the Go programming language (a.k.a., golang) to build just plain ol' applications. Prevent memory leaks when using websockets. The easiest way to make sure the websocket is closed under various 'return' conditions is to use 'defer' as the first line in the handler function; the pattern looks something like the following. Func websocHandler(ws *websocket.Conn) {. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Chicagoland, United States. View my complete profile.

Tuesday, February 1, 2011. Well, it's official, in case you hadn't noticed, 2011 is here to stay. January is over, February has stood her ground. She doesn't want to come into '11 as an underachiever, so she dropped the windchill to -36 for tonight.ahhh, tropical! I think I get bored. I dream of sunny skies, and time to twirl around the yard with my children. Both of which must not be enjoyed if my closets are beckoning. It will give me something to do for the other 6 months of winter. :). When something...

Saturday, August 15, 2015. Last weekend I went to the Sonoma County Fair! I stepped in a puddle on the way in and the people were calling me swamp foot.sooooo mean! When I finally got cleaned up (except my foot) I got my photo taken with the pretty flowers! I only tried to eat a few). And with the Minions and one of my people! There was this big scary gorilla there too. Naughty puppy ;-).

Adventures in Good Business

Adventures in Good Business. Bike locks in Scandinavia. I have been travelling to Scandinavia a lot over the past year and I keep noticing how bikes are rarely locked up. As a cyclist in London I am all too familiar with the cutthroat art of locking up a bike after a lengthy strategic assessment of the surrounding area, review of the strength of the fence/post/rack, visibility to passing pedestrians and also carrying an assortment of cables and locks weighing more than my bike…. Forget road closures and ...

Tuesday, July 6, 2010. Wool gloves and mittens. Synthetic gloves, however, are a different issue. They may be able to handle dampness that comes from your hand sweating. But if your gloves get wet because you are hiking in the rain or whitewater rafting and temperatures are cool or cold (and why else would you be wearing gloves? They are worse than useless. Really, bare hands are better. Marian Marbury and Deb Malmon. Links to this post. Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Sea kayaking in Greece, May 2011. The fir...

A blog to read the creative reviews and descriptions of tea written in manners that are not usually used to review tea. This is a blog that welcomes regular guest posters and one-or-more times guest posters. The result will hopefully be a blog that has many authors and as a result, more to learn and more perspectives to read. Monday, August 17, 2015. What tea is to me.
