My Medical Adventures: Happy days indeed
http://mymedicaladventures.blogspot.com/2008/07/happy-days-indeed.html
The adventures continue as I start my house jobs (now called Foundation Year 1) at a District General Hospital. Tuesday, 29 July 2008. What a good day! 160;I don't even know where to start. I read all sorts of interesting things in the paper, such as this. By Julie Bindel in the Guardian. And I loved shadowing in the hospital. I sometimes feel I ought to make more reflection on things, like the Fortunate Man and other medical authors. I hope to do so in the future, but since this is all prett...So I'm...

My Medical Adventures: September 2007
http://mymedicaladventures.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
The adventures continue as I start my house jobs (now called Foundation Year 1) at a District General Hospital. Tuesday, 25 September 2007. I helped move a load of freshers in to halls over the weekend. They make me feel old! I know it's just that I'm older, but they look younger than last year. It was scary. I'm quite glad Uni is nearly finished now, after 6 years, but it did make me nostalgic for the days when my liver could handle drinking until 3am and still making a 9am lecture. Noah and The Whale.

The adventures continue as I start my house jobs (now called Foundation Year 1) at a District General Hospital. Saturday, 30 June 2007. Tuesday, 26 June 2007. Things that make me sad. It makes me worry that medicine is not the career for me. I am going to spend so much time heartbroken. Saturday, 23 June 2007. It's always me me me, isn't it? Made want to give her a hug. Two Weeks on a Trolley: Long hours? Or a long time training?
http://twoweeksonatrolley.blogspot.com/2010/09/long-hours-or-long-time-training.html
Dr Thunder, an Irish Paediatric Registrar currently working in Australia. Thursday, 23 September 2010. Or a long time training? A fan of too much work. Over the years, I’ve done my fair share of long shifts, nights, weekends, public holidays, and combinations of all the above. I always thought my colleagues agreed with me. Enough miserable faces on the corridors of the various hospitals I’ve worked in made me feel a collective yearning for better conditions. Regular basis, as happens in Ireland. These do...

Two Weeks on a Trolley: the family doctor Vs the FAMILY doctor
http://twoweeksonatrolley.blogspot.com/2011/01/family-doctor-vs-family-doctor.html
Dr Thunder, an Irish Paediatric Registrar currently working in Australia. Thursday, 6 January 2011. The family doctor Vs the FAMILY doctor. I hate being the only doctor in the family. Aunts, grannies, nieces and friends of theirs all seem too keen to show me their bumps and bruises at any opportunity, in the hope of getting a quick diagnosis. I even had a relative show me his penis recently! But what do you THINK might be wrong? To this day she tells everyone who'll listen that it's a crime for me to be ...

jellyhead: December 2010
http://jellyheadrambles.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 12, 2010. Beginning all over again. How can it be the end of December already? I'm sure it was June just the other day. And I'm not alone in this sense of bewilderment . I've heard this sentiment repeated countless times by others. How could the entire year. Have all but slipped away? My heart is beating faster than usual, and I have a nagging sensation that I've forgotten something. To be honest, I didn't even totally forget - I just didn't quite bother to do. I wish you joy in 2011.

Pondering Practitioner: Abdominal anxieties
http://ponderingpractitioner.blogspot.com/2010/09/abdominal-anxieties.html
Diary of a London GP. Thursday, 23 September 2010. A 22 year old woman came to see me with abdominal pain. The symptoms were vague and mild, but she was anxious and unhappy. She seemed slightly awkward, not quite knowing where to look and desperately wanting me to take her seriously. Right - so where on earth had this come from? Posted by Pondering Practitioner.
