Adam's Art and Bonsai Blog. Last year, about this time I guess, I chronicled a nebari improvement technique that my friend, Ed, was trying with some trident maples. It involved taking seedlings and passing them through a CD and allowing them to grow. The full technique is explained in this post. As it is now. February 23, 2015.

Aerial Roots – bonsaichology
https://bonsaichology.wordpress.com/2015/06/30/aerial-roots
In 2009 ( a lot happened back then…) I bought one of these S shaped Figs from a very reputable bonsai vendor. (As he now declares that these S-shaped Chinese imports are not bonsai – I will refrain from naming him). In any case, I always wanted one and I have four now. And quite happy with my bonsai. This one had some aerial roots already and I was advised by all to cut them off. Reason that I wanted to develop aerial roots. It will be very interesting to see what develops from here. June 30, 2015. Fill ...

Every day brings new adventures. August 13, 2015. I was getting to a point where going forward was near impossible and decided to turn around and head back to the chalet, when I heard “tock-tock-tock”. I immediately tried to pin-point the direction of the sound. “Tock-tock-tock! 8221; There it was, a woodpecker! It was hunting for insects, stopping now and then, tapping…I got my best chance. Walking the river bank… – Our Rumbling Ocean
https://ourrumblingocean.wordpress.com/2015/08/11/walking-the-river-bank
Every day brings new adventures. Walking the river bank…. August 11, 2015. I should rather call it crawling or climbing the river bank, as it had no path except for that made by antelope. After some careful “walking” I saw a kingfisher on the other side of the river and attempted to take a few shots from under the trees on my side. Then I noticed movement above me. You guessed it, perfectly into the sun. This was Bar-throated Apalis, hunting for insects in the mosses and fungus growing on the trees.

Every day brings new adventures. August 9, 2015. We see a lot of crows regularly. The Pied and Cape crows are fairly common. Walking around on the farm we noticed 2 crows high in the air. Initially we did not take much notice. Something told us to look again. We were looking at the. Actually a pair of them. They have a black bill with a white tip and the diagnostic white half-moon or band on the neck but not the breast like the Pied crow. They also have the glossy black plumage.
