Talking back to the happily ever after. Are You There God? It's My Daughter, not Margaret. When I was growing up, I loved all of Judy Blumes books, and one of the scenes that stuck with me over the years was in. Are You There God? Its Me, Margaret. Not content to wait, she soon told us that she had lost a tooth- a molar way in the back so we couldnt see it- and that the tooth fairy had stopped by her room and had brought her money that she had already put in her piggy bank. . I Am Not a Turkey. I have su...

Talking back to the happily ever after. Laquo; 25 Days. Stuck in a Moment ». The Boy is eight. This morning he marched off to third grade, grumbling a bit about the unhappy coincidence that his birthday happens to fall on the first day of school, but mostly he was happy and eager, and outside waiting for the bus nearly 20 minutes early. Talking back to the happily ever after. Like Sand Through The Hour Glass ». Stuck in a Moment. Yesterday I tackled a long overdue task: cleaning out the closet in the office/extra bedroom. It contains hitherto unopened boxes from when we left the city for our suburban rental house in 2008 that we never managed to open when we settled into this house in 2009. Among the treasures I found was this:. Posted at 09:51 AM in Childish Things. You can follow this conversation by subscribing to the comment feed.

Talking back to the happily ever after. Like Sand Through The Hour Glass. I know the neglect at this blog is epic, and I really do hope to find my way back to it in a regular way, but in the meantime. Halloween fell on a Thursday this year so I was charmed as the Throwback Thursday posts began to appear in my Twitter feed of people and their children in Halloweens gone by. One of my favorite pictures of The Boy is of him in a duck costume at 8 weeks old that I posted on my erstwhile blog way back when.

MysteryMommy: How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count the Teys.
http://mysterymommy.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-do-i-love-thee-let-me-count-teys.html
Tuesday, March 24, 2009. How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count the Teys. Josephine Tey (AKA Elizabeth Mackintosh. Wrote eight books, all of which are just fabulous. I'm unable to pick a favorite, they are all so good and different in their own ways. I'm not going to talk about A Shilling for Candles because, well, it's her weakest book, and I've only read it twice. Don't start with this one. What would have that size and shape? This is just a lovely book. Labels: books glorious books. More Mystery than Mommy.

Wednesday, July 16, 2014. I love Amtrak (which is something I might have mentioned before). I love riding the train to New York or Vermont or wherever. And making friends with my seatmates and the folks nearby. My most recent two adventures led to long discussions with: a professor of English Literature (the Romantic period) from Scotland; a professional rock-n-roll violinist; and a woman who lives less than a mile from my house. MysteryMommy: Reason 5

Tuesday, September 16, 2008. Why I'm voting and walking and calling and writing for Obama/Warner/RhymesWithSeder. Part five of a series:. Or, more specifically, rail infrastructure. Move more people faster for less money. Now, y'all know how. What you may not know is how angry I was back in 2001 when Congress was bailing out the airlines and saying that they were going to de-fund Amtrak. How dare they bail out United - who let their planes be hijacked! And let Amtrak fail? Count me as a fan of rails, and...

MysteryMommy: Why I love Skating Shoes
http://mysterymommy.blogspot.com/2008/02/why-i-love-skating-shoes.html
Wednesday, February 06, 2008. Why I love Skating Shoes. One particularly beastly day, when it looked every minute as if it were going to rain and never quite did, Harriet was coming home from the river feeling as blue as a lobelia, when a car stopped beside her. Hullo, Harriet. How are you getting on? I feel simply terrible, and I shouldn't think I'll ever, ever get well again.". Harriet looked at him sadly, for she thought he was too nice to be so ignorant. It's a famous place.". But it's at the top of ...
MysteryMommy: Dame Agatha - part 4 in the Genevieve Asks series
http://mysterymommy.blogspot.com/2009/03/dame-agatha-part-4-in-genevieve-asks.html
Saturday, March 28, 2009. Dame Agatha - part 4 in the Genevieve Asks series. Christie was a phenomenally prolific writer: 80 mystery novels! Not to mention plays! Romances under a pseudonym! The Guinness Book of World Records calls her the best-selling author of all time - outselling everyone except the Bible 1. I have read everything she wrote. And I will talk to you here about my favorites. I have to say that Christie cheats just the squinchiest bit in this book, but I looooove the book very very much.

Stamford Talk: Eat, Think, Drive, Blog! Because life in CT is so boring if we don't. Friday, July 13, 2012. Stamford Downtown Horse Tour 2012. My friends and I spent two hours walking around the concrete and asphalt streets of Stamford yesterday. why? To see the horse statues, of course! A friend planned out a four-part tour for us, and yesterday we completed leg three. I blogged. About it more extensively at my more parenting-focused (but still locally-slanted) blog, FC Mom. If you want to take a peek!

January 7, 2013. Kicking my Starbucks habit. So for quite sometime I've had a really bad daily habit - Starbucks. I seem to never get tired of a grande coffee and a treat. My two treats I get most often are the pumpkin bread and the blueberry muffins. As a Christmas present to myself I got a Nespresso coffee maker and I love it! Although I know it's pricy I love the coffee and having it anytime and not having to clean up a coffee maker. Okay one habit down now to deal with the treat issue. Bake until a c...
