Age of Everything

Thursday, May 6, 2010. Two weeks ago I attended his small ensemble recital. He conducted a group of musicians that included Kevin O'Neil on guitar, Adam Kubota, on bass and others (sorry there was no program for the concert) two pianists, a second guitarist, alto, cello, and a drummer who played a floor tom with tremendous precision and musicality. They performed Composition 169 and Composition 96. Tough pieces indeed, beautifully played. He answers "I was trying to keep up with you! Keith Rowe gave a Ma...

Age of Everything: Bill Dixon Weight/Counterweight

http://ageofeverything.blogspot.com/2010/02/weightcounterweight-bill-dixon.html

Saturday, February 27, 2010. Bill Dixon released a couple of recordings in 2009. This one on the Broken Research label, is a two LP set, and it didn't get enough of the attention it deserves. Dixon who is in his 80's performs with two young percussionists Ben Hall and Aaron Siegel. Their contribution on drums and tympani offers a different situation in which to hear Dixon. It is spare, but consistent, intense and supportive. Web: www.be1two.net. View my complete profile. David S. Ware.

Stephen Haynes: Looking Back: Paradigm Shift: A New Brass Notion

The best of contemporary music is informed by the contingent nature of existence. The ethos of improvisation seems especially suited to our era of accelerated change. Thursday, 16 December 2010 16:34. The Mask took Thorns years ago and the Realm did not react. She who Must be Obeyed makes her move and takes Lookshy for her own and still it looks as if Creation takes another blow lying down. But all is not lost. And what of the Realm?
