Events & Meetings. Cottonwood Country Council,. 33447306 N, 116.799693 W. 18 miles East of Temecula,. 23 miles south of Hemet. Nearby Vail Lake is an Indian burial ground. The Stagecoach Inn in Aguanga, CA, a stage stop 90 years ago, occupies the former site of an old Temecula Indian village, Picha Awanga, “the place of the water.” An earthquake about 1903 disturbed the artesian spring, forcing the Indians away. 1997 people, 1102 males(55%), 895 females(44%). These maps are not necessarily to scale.
