Architecture Book Fair: Part One of Four: The Peculiar Nature of Cities
http://archbookfair.blogspot.com/2011/06/part-one-of-four-peculiar-nature-of.html
Part One of Four: The Peculiar Nature of Cities. The book begins with a statement, that it is serving as an attack on city planning and rebuilding. Jane Jacobs is saddened with the current state of city planning and wants to introduce new ideas. The attack does not seem to be aimed at the practice of city planning, but rather at the principles, and what they are based upon. In part one of the book, Jane Jacobs discusses the use of sidewalks, neighborhood parks, and city neighborhoods. UH COA Student Blog.
