A Japanese Adventure
Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Though a custom in Japan to give gifts to people for leaving (and almost any other reason you can think of), I didn't really expect that much from my students or teachers. I already posted about my Friday party and gifts I guess, but here's a picture of just a few of the things I've received! The bright pink thing in front is the jimbei, a sort of pajama type house wear maybe equivalent to a robe. I was really excited about that! When you buy it, it looks like this with no eyes.

A Japanese Diary
Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. The world of (Japanese) work. April 19, 2014. We perceive Japan as a nation of hard-working people who have successfully taken the best ideas of the Western world, engineered their features into new products which they have sold back to the West. As I survey the trappings of my existence, I see a Canon camera, Sony television, Toshiba travelling lap top, and a Honda motor car (yes, my Honda Accord Euro was made in Japan, not in Thailand, China or the US).
a JapanEse doLL
There is something in the air tonight. Be it near or far away. It is something I have yet to see. Through my cloudy skies of grey. I ponder hard, I ponder long. As I try my best to contemplate. What could this something be. Perhaps it is the evening rain. As it falls with gracious ease. Or the whisper of the Northern wind. As it sails on through the trees. It could even be the fragrance. Of the roses newly sprung. Or the sweet sound of the nightingale. When his song, it has been sung. Love at first sight.
