Lakeland Railway: Station Refurbishment
http://lakelandrailway.blogspot.com/2015/05/station-refurbishment.html
Sunday, May 10, 2015. We have been spending some time making much-needed improvements to Coneyvale Halt, one of the smaller stations on the layout. As with some of the other stations, we began with some straight sections of Horny platform plus a couple of platform ramps. Over this we laid some 1/32" cork and painted this grey. We then applied some platform edging and acquired some old Airfix Platform Fencing, which really does look the part, I must admit. Sunday, May 10, 2015. May 17, 2015 at 2:41 PM.

Lakeland Railway: August 2014
http://lakelandrailway.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 3, 2014. As you can see from the photographs above, we have been making steady progress with this new section of the layout. Carswater station now has fencing and buildings, the ballast depot is coming along nicely and more of the hills have been grassed over. The track here has almost all been ballasted too and this should be finished next weekend. Sunday, August 03, 2014. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I haven't updated this blog since October.Shame on me! These locos were 1100 hp Bo-Bos, with BR Numbers D5900 - D5909 that were introduced in 1959.

Lakeland Railway: Ballast Yard Lights
http://lakelandrailway.blogspot.com/2015/05/ballast-yard-lights.html
Monday, May 4, 2015. At long last we have installed lights in the Ballast Yard plus a couple of buffer stops that also have red warning lights. The buffer stop lights are supplied direct from the track while the yard lights, as well as the platform lights at Carswater station, are all controlled via the 12V dc supply on an old H&M controller. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. As well as adding signals to the layout, especially around Gunnmere, we have also been making a few changes / additions to the layout, at various locations. We have also been planting a lot of trees around the layout, as can be seen from the photos above, showing either end of the viaduct, at the northern end, and around Carswater at the southern end. Lakeland Railway: Tri-ang Gold Plated Train Set T.43
http://lakelandrailway.blogspot.com/2015/05/tri-ang-gold-plated-tt-train-set-t43.html
Sunday, May 31, 2015. Tri-ang Gold Plated Train Set T.43. I found this very unusual train being sold at a local antiques shop recently and, although I had neither seen nor heard of it before, I realized at once that it was probably a rarity. It is a TT scale model (i.e.: 3 mm : 1 foot) and it was produced by Tri-ang in 1961 for the Kays Mail Order Catalogue. It features SR Merchant Navy Class Nº 35028 'Clan Line' together with three coaches all of which have been finished in vacuum-plated gold. I haven't...

Lakeland Railway: November 2013
http://lakelandrailway.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 24, 2013. D400 and a Footbridge. Time for me to highlight some of the locomotives, rolling stock and other features that we have added to the layout during the past few months and I will begin with another Class 50 (and the fourth member of the class to be added to our fleet) as well as a beautiful station footbridge - both seen above. We acquired the Class 50 in the guise of 50037 'Illustrious' which came with faulty, non-working Hornby sound decoder. The second photograph shows the foo...

Lakeland Railway: October 2014
http://lakelandrailway.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 26, 2014. I recently came across these three Tri-ang Hornby Steam Locomotives, all of which were still in their original, cellophane-sealed boxes. All of the models date from the 1960s and 1970s and it must be very unusual to find them in this unopened and unused condition. The first model is, of course, Nº 4472 LNER Class A3 Pacific 'Flying Scotsman, Catalogue Nº: R.855. This model has a corridor tender and glowing firebox and it dates from between 1968 and 1970.
