I'm reading about a book a day. That does pall a bit. I get out with David to a play or a movie sometimes: after all, doesn't take much walking! Not going to Potlatch. Hey, kids - if you like to drink handcrafted local draft microbrews, and would like to do it, you know, locally. Then it looks like downtown Kent is undergoing a very happy revolution. Nevermind Tavern. Has just opened on E. Meeker. Our household had already been eagerly anticipating the June opening of a Meeker street outpost of Airways Brewing. Nevermind is also on Facebook. In case you do that sort of thing.

I may, in fact, have picked my apartment due to its relative proximity to pumpkins in autumn. This fall, the place to be is Carpinito Bros U Pick Pumpkin Patch. Located on the corner of 277th and West Valley Hwy. Open now, 9am-dusk, through October 31st. Stand takes cash and checks, no plastic. Anybody going to the 1st Avenue Street Fair on 9/12?

So, anybody here hear about the fatal shooting in the Kent Station area yesterday morning? I hadn't until my commute this morning, when I happened to sit in front of a couple of UW students who were also coming up from Kent. Andrew Cox has just sent me the illustration for my story, Beasts which will be out in the June/July issue of Interzone. Im very pleased with it. Hes also assured me that the font will be different for the story in print, this is for the proof of the illustration, which was done by Martin Hanford.
