Winter Is Coming – Garnant
https://garnant.wordpress.com/2015/08/03/winter-is-coming-2
You might think I'm frivolous, uncaring and cold. August 3, 2015. October 5, 2015. This may sound menacing in Westeros, but to the figure skating enthusiast it’s a promise. Back in May, with the season barely finished, Yuzuru Hanyu started landing clean quad loops in shows, so Johnny Weir felt like penning the following tweet, which I find hilarious. Last thought. Yuzuru Hanyu landed a Quadruple Loop in the finale tonight. Cut your summer vacations short skater dudes, winter is coming…. Anyway, the music...

Wild – Garnant

You might think I'm frivolous, uncaring and cold. July 6, 2015. July 6, 2015. E’ enormemente confortante e molto divertente leggere Cheryl Strayed. Phở in the Rain.

Nature of Tasmania: November 2009
http://tasnature.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, 29 November 2009. Welcome Swallow Feeding it's Young. Or Swallow Nearly Swallows Swallow. Yesterday I watched a group of for juvenile swallows perched on a broken branch in the river and waiting to be fed. I tried capturing this on video but the lighting was so harsh that the video camera could not deal with it at all. With the SLR, two stops of exposure compensation at least allowed me to get a few reasonable shots. Click Photos to Enlarge). Patiently awaiting the next instalment. Places - Naraw...

Nature of Tasmania: May 2015
http://tasnature.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, 21 May 2015. Fungi, Lichens, and Liverworts. I've spent a little time this month perambulating up and down the river bank at Fern Glade. With the cooler weather setting in, and plenty of rain, a variety of fungi has been popping up out of the ground, on rotting logs, and even on an animal carcass. Be aware that I am not an expert on fungi (or on anything else for that matter) so all identifications are tentative. Ghoul fungus , Hebeloma aminophilum. Honey Fungus, Armillaria luteobubalina. This ...

Nature of Tasmania: June 2015
http://tasnature.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, 27 June 2015. Or… Some bad photos of uncommon birds. Some of the following birds may be common in some parts of the country but in my local area I would consider them all to be uncommon to rare. 1 Fairy Tern ( Sternula nereis. On 9th May I sighted nine Fairy Terns at Cooee. It was high tide and they were feeding right at the edge of the shore just metres from my car. Of course my camera was at home. The following day I returned, armed with a canon – camera that is :-). Fairy Tern in Background.

Nature of Tasmania: September 2008
http://tasnature.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 30 September 2008. Whilst in hot pursuit of a small but agile skink, I was removing a few rocks among which it had crawled. My attention was then shifted to the interesting looking beetle you see photographed below. It is 15mm in length and I believe it to be Saragus costatus. Just a couple of days ago. Another coincidence is that I last saw this species almost a year ago to the day and only a few feet from where this one was located. It can be viewed here. Click Photos to Enlarge). Hanging from...

Monday, 3 May 2010. Life on a Brain Fungus. Mites and Springtails on Tremella fuciformis. It wasn't until I looked at the first photos that I noticed other tiny creatures crawling around. These turned out to be tiny Poduromorph. Springtails. Having placed some in a container I witnessed one jump at least 5 cm. Quite a feat for an animal a mere 1.8 mm in length. Click on photos to enlarge). White Brain Fungus - Tremella fuciformis. You can see the mites and springtails more clearly on the larger image).
