Sunday, 12 September 2010. A view from the skies. Taking advantage of a sunny London Sunday we decided to use the vouchers Regan and Scott had bought Shaun for his birthday almost a whole year ago. and take a trip on the London Eye. The city turned on some clear skies and we spent a relaxing 40 minutes or so doing a cruise in mid-air. Probably one of the most relaxing ways to see the sights of the city! Saturday, 30 October 2010. Cooling down in Bruges. Especially as it was so cold in Bruges- I had to have 'warm up' baths in the late afternoon). Wandering around the city it really is beautiful - with very friendly locals and LOTS of chocolate - and canals of course! Although the tourists had died down from what are apparently thronging hordes all summer, there were still plenty around and the canal boat cruises were in full swing - albeit with us all rugged up against the cold. Tuesday, 27 May 2014. If you don't like rocks, then look away now. We arrived late after a short flight from Istanbul and were driven to our hotel in the dark. The hotel itself was supposed to be a cave, but it wasn't really. At least it was made out of the same rock. Straight away, into the rocks, and this is right beside the road. Wandering the Derwent valley. At the Zelve Open Air Museum. Wheel for grinding grain in the background. Camels for the tourists, and fairy chimneys. Our 'Cave' Hotel room.

Monday, 18 June 2012. A wintry weekend escape to Cradle Mountain was on the agenda. We flew into Launceston and it was like landing in Dunedin, small airport slightly out of town and a calm, clear, cold winter's day. It was a couple of hours drive to Cradle Mountain but the roads were quiet and the scenery was good. Our little cottage was excellent, small wooden hut but good facilities and good heating. We went for a walk to a couple of waterfalls on the Saturday afternoon. Bush on the way to waterfalls.
