St Gothian Sands NR. Monday, 5 October 2009. Apologies for the lack of recent updates, and thanks for those who have sent in sightings. Anything of real interest is on the Cornwall Birding. Website. Derek Jenkins, Tim Twiggs, John Johns and i have all been on the reserve but not recorded a great deal other than the odd Dunlin. Tim had a juv Little Stint. St Gothian Sands NR. Tuesday, 4 May 2010. Monday 26th April 2010 - Evening Visit. An evening visit to the reverve produced the following observations by Tim Twiggs:. In bushes on bank of Red River ditch by Sandsifter and 2 Reed Warbler. Flew over main pool and 3 Northern Wheatear. 1 male) - pair(? To left of main track before fenced area by concrete blocks and second female in area between main pool and road. 8 Swallow. Only had single birds recently so a small influx? Male still on main pool.

The great egret is a little over three feet tall with a wingspan of almost five feet. Its feathers are entirely white. It has a long, sharp yellow bill and long gray to black legs, with non-webbed feet with very long toes. Males and females look alike, but the males are a little larger. Great Blue Heron hunting Voles.

Tundra Swan coming in for a landing. Tundra Swans, Pintails, Canada Geese and Gulls at Farmington Bay. Tundra Swans, Green-winged Teal and Pintails. The Swan in the center of the picture is a Bewick's race Tundra Swan. Notice the larger yellow patches on the face. Each year we get one or two Bewick's Swans. Bridals.a...

St Gothian Sands NR. Thursday, 15 April 2010. Thurs 15 April 2010 - Todays Sightings. Derek Jenkins reports three White Wagtail. Beside main pool and also a Common Sandpiper. Today The Canada Geese. St Gothian Sands NR. Friday, 23 April 2010. Wednesday 21st April 2010 Todays Sightings. On the reserve today with at least 16 different birds counted. The total was probably higher as birds were still moving onto the reserve from out of the dunes as i left. A summer plumaged Dunlin. Was on the gated pools as were a pair of Reed Bunting.
