Not all who wander are lost. You read that correctly; I will be home in less than 3 months! Now concerning work-related activities:. I have also started teaching Junior Achievement at two different elementary schools. It's really interesting to be in a Senegalese classroom setting; the kids are very disciplined and respectful, yet outside of school, they can be so rude and loud. It's just nice to see the children in a different setting :). Remember that huge tree nursery that I did last year? Packets to ...

Not all who wander are lost. To celebrate my one year anniversary in Senegal, I took a vacation to Greece :) I have always wanted to go to Greece, so this seemed like a perfect time to do so. Greece was amazing! I had such a blast, and ate so much food! I gained 4 pounds in 10 days lol). I arrived in Athens on a Saturday and spent most of the evening just wandering around. On Sunday, I went up to the Acropolis and then spent the rest of the day visiting some of the other ruins sites. I had just spent the...

Not all who wander are lost. They really try to take care of me. After that delicious meal, we had a little bit of couscous with sauce as to keep with tradition. After that, we sat around and waited for the children to make their rounds in the neighborhood. Me and my twin rocking our new outfits. Enjoying some tasty non-alcoholic beverages. The Road Less Traveled. Tales of my trials and tribulation throughout Senegal. And you thought dealing with TSA was a pain. April 28, 2012. Yes, I admit, I, a 30 year old woman was standing among a bunch of Senegalese men stomping my feet yelling that it’s not fair that they are trying to rip me off, not one of my proudest moments but it worked and I got my price! Yes, true story, and people think this is a normal way to travel. So this is what it looks like from the back seat of a 9-place, 3 people up f...

The Road Less Traveled. Tales of my trials and tribulation throughout Senegal. July 28, 2011. The next day we slowly got ready for our trip back to Kedougou. My back and legs were not looking forward to it but if I ever wanted to see my own bed again I had to get on my bike. The ride back was much easier because it was predominately downhill and it only took us about an hour to get back! 8221; (my Senegalese name) I look at who is talking and I find it to be my namesake! I’m glad that I got to get ...

The Road Less Traveled. Tales of my trials and tribulation throughout Senegal. The REAL Peace Corps experience. Leaving my small mark on Senegal. July 31, 2012. When I first got to country my fellow volunteers used to tease me about not wanting to get down and dirty and embracing the “tough” life of Senegal. In retaliation I told my friend, who is an Agroforestry volunteer, that if she found me a tree to plant I would come out to her village and plant it! This is the sweetsop fruit. The Road Less Traveled. Tales of my trials and tribulation throughout Senegal. Larr; And you thought American politics were a heated debate. Mali – What an experience * Beware, long post*. December 22, 2011. We finally arrived in Bamako mid-afternoon and went straight to our hotel to clean up. Our hotel was simple, a room with two beds and shared bathrooms, but it was clean and the bonus, they had hot water! We met our tour guide, Hassimi, at his house, after some confusion of where we were supposed to g...

The Road Less Traveled. Tales of my trials and tribulation throughout Senegal. The REAL Peace Corps experience. June 5, 2012. Entering this experience I thought, like most of you, that I had an idea of what a Peace Corps experience was, roughing it in a village while saving the world! Looking back at mine time here, Boy was I wrong! WARNING: Some things I mention might not be pleasant but this is what I go through on a fairly routine basis! First, the conveniences, or lack thereof! Plus as the hot season...
