The Bookaholics: August 2015

Monster by C. J. Skuse. Set in a boarding school called Bathory which emanates old-school charm, this book is a pleasant surprise with a tinge of romance and mostly suspense/horror towards the ending. The setting and plot were quite realistic and I had no trouble imagining the scenes in my head. Monday, August 10, 2015. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). More of Aik's books. Monster by C. J. Skuse. The Book on the Hill: September 2012
http://thebookonthehill.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Features on the Hill. My new blog is www.midnightcaramel.com. Happy reading, and thank you for your visit! Friday, 28 September 2012. Welcome to another round of French cover compare! DO NOT READ THIS BOOK by Pat Moon. Translated as DÉFENSE DE LIRE CE LIVRE. It is Forbidden to Read this Book. My thoughts: I like the French cover better, not being a huge fan of the original illustration. I LOVE illustrations on covers, but this one doesn't grab my attention at all. Too childish, maybe? WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Reading, Writing and the 'Rhythmatic of Life. February 28, 2015. Reading Challenge–Reading Diversely. I tried not to look at the other results when I was searching for K.T. Bradford’s article on xojane I Challenge You to Stop Reading White, Straight, Cis Male Authors for One Year. But unsurprisingly, it looks pretty bad. Mostly I wanted to do this for my own information, but now I don’t mind adding my noise against the ignorant, the racists and the sexists. Women authors of color: 5 out of 76 (yeesh).

Up the Tower of Books: March 2010
http://upthetowerofbooks.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 30, 2010. Does the setting of the novel have any effect on your opinion of book? The reason I ask is because, a couple of weeks ago, I started reading a book. However, within the first few pages, I learned the book took place in NYC, so I immediately decided that I didn't want to read it. I've read books in NYC, but the feel. That NYC gives is not my favorite. I don't really know how to explain it. How does setting affect your take on a novel? Sunday, March 28, 2010. As a series of blood-c...

Reading, Writing and the 'Rhythmatic of Life. May 24, 2014. Writing Process Blog Tour. The indomitable, coke-drinking in the morning, snarky Casey Blair. One of my roomies from Viable Paradise. Tagged me. How could I say no? What am I working on? I’m working on something new. It’s such early days (not even 40k words) that I don’t even know what it is yet, but I’m going with young adult epic science fantasy for right now. Whatever it is, I’m having fun. How does my work differ from others in the genre?
