Embless, a primitive Chess engine

Embless 0.88.1 (C source, tar.gz archive). In the summer of 2010, I decided I should write a Chess engine. Embless is the result. It implements the Xboard Protocol. Screenshot on right) can be used as a GUI for it to play against humans, other Chess engines, or on the Internet Chess Club. I should say that I'm not a programmer by trade or training, nor do I have any actual knowledge of Chess programming techniques, other than those I picked up along the way. I started with Naive Minimax.

I affirm the following statements:. There is a real world out there, independent of us. It has existed for about 14 billion years, and thus existed before we or any other conscious observers came to be. Thoughts do not determine reality. Reality is not a social construct. I find it convenient to define the word "truth" to mean "whatever statements describe the world accurately". Then I would not know how to argue with him, aside from noting the confusion it would cause.

Robin Hanson and Nick Bostrom have this idea called the Great Filter. Which is an attempt to explain the Fermi Paradox. I thought it would be nice to explain it as briefly as possible. Two reasons why I am not religious. Set aside the word "God" for a moment, since it has many connotations. I will instead consider the existence of an Ultrapowerful Friendly Superintelligence (hereafter UFS. Written in red just to give the page a little colour). The first reason I am not religious.
