Cheap Not Frugal Eats. We're not frugal.we're cheap. Sunday, October 27, 2013. Pantry-Friendly Pie: Vegan Acorn Squash Pie with Crust. Since I made my first vegan acorn squash pie. Two years ago, I have been experimenting with different recipes and different squashes. I haven't posted any of them because they didn't turn out in taste or looks or both. This whole vegan baking thing is tricky. My latest attempt at vegan pie even looks like a pie! From the Pie Maven. I made sure to blind bake the crust.

Cheap Not Frugal Eats: February 2013

Cheap Not Frugal Eats. We're not frugal.we're cheap. Thursday, February 28, 2013. This was my first attempt at tomato soup. I have said this before and I will say it again: My life has never been the same since I made this. Why would I have made tomato soup before when there were always cans of Campbell’s in the pantry? I’m embarrassed to admit that I had no idea making tomato soup was so simple. Such simple ingredients to create a luxurious soup. Almost everyone is in the pot. 1 yellow onion, sliced thi...

Cheap Not Frugal Eats. We're not frugal.we're cheap. Wednesday, May 29, 2013. My Version of Hot and Sour Miso Soup. I've discussed my adventures and new-found love of miso a few times. I shared how I used miso in my Persimmon and Parsnip Stir-Fr. Y to tie together all the sweet and earthy flavors I had going on. I have been trying to create citrusy dressing with miso: here dressing a soba noodle salad. By far, my favorite way to enjoy miso is in a soup. The miso I like to use isn't completely smooth....

Cheap Not Frugal Eats. We're not frugal.we're cheap. Thursday, January 24, 2013. Cauliflower and Bacon Chowder. Of course I have been making lots of soup! I've made vegetable soup, bisque, tomato soup, and CHOWDER. I love chowders. They are thick, creamy, and luscious. And.did we neglect the fact that it's soup. Enough said. Cauliflower and Bacon Chowder. 3 slices thick-cut pepper bacon, cut into lardons. Olive oil as needed, about 1-2 tablespoons. 1/2 red onion, diced. 3 cloves garlic, minced. Depending...

Preserving Fruit without Sugar. In my limited experience with preserving fruit, the only way I know how to do so without using a sweetener is by freezing or dehydrating. I guess there are a few exceptions such as preserved lemons in which salt is used. Both methods are very simple and easy to do you are only limited by the space in your freezer. Freezing Berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, cranberries and raspberries). Clean and hull berries. Put berries in a large freezer. The only berries...

Cheap Not Frugal Eats: January 2015

Cheap Not Frugal Eats. We're not frugal.we're cheap. Sunday, January 11, 2015. Recipe Review: Chicken Paprikash. I have to admit I've had chicken paprikash one time and it was in a soup version. I really enjoyed the combination of tangy, creamy sauce with the smoky chicken. Having no idea where to start or what makes a good chicken paprikash, I decided to try the recipe for Chicken Paprikash. And mushroom gouda quinoa bake. Sour cream or Greek yogurt. Noodles (or in my case, fettucine).
