A child of an artistic family, he was encouraged to pursue his love of painting. He attended Rhode Island School of Design in 1984 and was selected for RISD's European Honors Program in Rome, where for a year, he has the opportunity to study the "Old Masters" first hand! He was particularly influenced by the dramatic lighting effects in the paintings of Caravaggio.
