Ironic African News Tidbit of the Day. Posted by The Non Sequitur. April 19, 2011. As you may know, Zimbabwe is slowly getting ready for the elections that many hope will finally force Robert Mugabe to relinquish power. While in the U.S. gearing up for elections means campaigns and fundraising and maybe one or two smear campaigns on local television, in Zimbabwe it means arresting, torturing, intimidating or killing the entire opposition. Sunday, February 27, 2011. I - a prolegomenon. We played, of course. We played in primary school the minute we could push a ball high enough to hit the rim. And push it we did. P5 was probably the earliest we learnt how to play. I remember we learnt lay up drills in p.e. But of course even then we hardly knew what to do. Lay ups? Those are meant to be. easy? I remember I could sorta do one. And I could actually do a half reverse running hook. The name of it only shows how ugly it really looked. The list ...

A Message from an Emotional Horse. Posted by The Non Sequitur. August 30, 2011. I just peered up from my work desk to see that on one of the many lists pinned up on my wall (entitled ‘Weekly Checklist’) I had written some months ago, “Write blog entry every Sunday”. What a guilt-inducer that checklist-particular has become—mainly because I have not written in months. Propped up so pompously at the front of his ‘book line’)? Your unthinking pet robot? The dilemma here is that Former Self does not consider...

Don’t Worry, Be Happy. Posted by The Non Sequitur. May 11, 2011. I just recently landed in Nairobi, Kenya six days ago. I’m here for a year. This makes one think. I find myself in frequent rumination, pondering both this journey and my larger journey. Blueray or HD DVD? And the acronyms continue…. This current state of affairs begs several questions: What caused the stress? What caused the obsession with material things? What caused us to choose to fret over the small and inconsequential? There would be ...

July 18, 2011 by Josh Ober. Speaks for itself, doesn't it? I guess it’s time for my final entry on Italy. Our last stop before heading to Spain to conclude our trip was in Venice, the lovely sinking island city on the East coast of Italy. Oh you know, just a staircase into the canal. Alright, so here I am again to bombard you all with another entry. No particular importance, just thought this was really cool street art. The sunset in Florence was incredible. One thing led to another and before we knew it we had a 12 person table playing a drinking game and then going out to a club. We were out until 4:00...
