A long way to go for a cup of tea. Days out in the North East of England. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Really, nothing makes my heart soar like the prospect of a Day Out. Forget DIY. For me, setting off in a car laden with waterproof jackets, picnic rugs and multipacks of crisps in search of somewhere simultaneously sunny and scenic is what Sundays and Bank Holidays were made for. But what constitutes the ideal Day Out location? February 19, 2013. A National Trust property near Mic...

A long way to go for a cup of tea. Days out in the North East of England. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Newer posts →. June 11, 2012. But rather than getting back in the car and heading off to a more upbeat destination, I decided to give Newbiggin a chance. Why? Here, I was disabused of my first impression of Newbiggin as a grey and glum location. Newbiggin, I learned, is an extraordinary place. Things are looking up for Newbiggin, and it’s about time. June 7, 2012. And held afterno...

A long way to go for a cup of tea. Days out in the North East of England. Skip to primary content. April 30, 2012. The other week my husband chucked a copy of My First 100 Trucks into the shopping trolley at Sainsburys. Since then our son has become increasingly fascinated by all things vehicular. Perhaps his preoccupation with the animal kingdom is on the wane, and engines and wheels have taken over from wings and tails? A horse riding schoo. L, a renowned music venue. What the Ladybird Heard. Elsewhere...
The Quayside | A long way to go for a cup of tea
https://alongwaytogoforacupoftea.wordpress.com/2012/10/21/the-quayside
A long way to go for a cup of tea. Days out in the North East of England. Skip to primary content. October 21, 2012. Too blustery , I replied. The park? Too screechy . The farm? Too smelly, too far away and anyway I haven’t got the right shoes on . A couple of dozen of suggestions later, and we found ourselves on the Quayside, on the basis that it was nearby and didn’t require specialist footwear. And, after a few minutes, much to my husband’s relief, my mood began to lift again. And beautiful Miho deers.

I woke up this morning really early (before the baby, what what? Stop reading now if sad sacks bore you. 🙂. By emergency section. And she was absolutely beautiful. I was elated, exhausted, euphoric. Nearly Everything But The Kitchen Sink: Missing Gaps
http://nearlyeverythingbut.blogspot.com/2013/12/missing-gaps.html
Friday, December 6. Before I jump in with life post-intensive care #2, I'll back track. Wriggles recovered from her tonsillectomy after a tense fortnight of religious administration of Calpol and ibuprofen and by the end of July you would not have been able to tell that weeks ago she had had surgery. Her breathing pattern whilst asleep improved-if anything it unnerved me how quiet she was! And then, at the end of August and beginning of October, something amazing happened. As the health and development s...

Nearly Everything But The Kitchen Sink: December 2013
http://nearlyeverythingbut.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 7. Such ordinary pictures, days of nothing special, and yet for my 3 year old each one is a momentous occasion. I took for granted that walking comes naturally to children, babies even, until I had a premature baby who was later diagnosed with spastic cerebral palsy. Since the days turned into weeks and then months when allotted milestones came and went, un-met we have done a lot. Links to this post. Friday, December 6. Nearly Everything But The Kitchen Sink: Back on her feet
http://nearlyeverythingbut.blogspot.com/2014/01/back-on-her-feet.html
Wednesday, January 8. Back on her feet. Although I told everyone I was sure she'd be walking again by Christmas, as the days ticked by and she wobbled through them I begun to wonder if I was perhaps getting ahead of myself. After all, no one imagined she could get so sick so quick, so it was not entirely ridiculous to imagine taking a more semi-permanent back step as a consequence. And then, just days before Christmas she did it. Again. Thursday, 09 January, 2014. Tuesday, 14 January, 2014. Oh well done ...

Nearly Everything But The Kitchen Sink: February 2014
http://nearlyeverythingbut.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 24. Recently I have been terrible at blogging, leaving long gaps between posts that I need to write for my sanity. So before I start this, here is some proof we have been at least getting on with life in between:. Be affected or simply put she wouldn't have cerebral palsy which she obviously does. I am going to have to find some metaphorical superglue. Links to this post. Long term effects of prematurity. Sunday, February 9. Feeding Tube Awareness Week: day one, our story. This week is F...

Saturday, November 16. Then 12 days ago our life took another rocking which has sharply brought into focus just how important this whole question of prematurity is, even in a medically advanced and developed country. Wriggles was born just under 28 weeks and is now 3 years old. She has lasting effects of prematurity but nothing severe especially compared to some children. Links to this post. Nearly Everything But The Kitchen Sink: Feeding Tube
http://nearlyeverythingbut.blogspot.com/p/feeding-tube.html
We now have a gastronomy and are slowly learning how to use it. Hopefully by having it fitted, it will give Wriggles more freedom and confidence to learn how to eat as right now she is getting 100% of her nutritional needs met by a mix of bolus and a 10-hour continuous night feed of nutritionally complete high calorie milk. At a year old, we were due to go onto tube feeds which fell through. Only to have an almost mirror image admission and plan just 9 months later! First day with an NG at home. Tomorrow...

A Long Way South's Blog. Just another WordPress.com site. Tip 6: Ride from Santiago to Mendoza. June 29, 2010. I highly recommend making the bus trip from Santiago to Mendoza. Not only is Mendoza a top-notch city to visit but the bus ride itself is spectacular. After staying in Santiago for the night (no night buses to Mendoza were running due to snow and wintry conditions), we continued our trip to Argentina the next morning. We hopped on the bus and were on our way to Argentina! Total Time: 8 hours.

A Long Way to Go for a Date
A Long Way to Go for a Date. There's no telling how far a really horny guy might go for a hot date. Phineas Fogg had to travel to India to meet his Princess Auda, and the extra time it took almost kept him from going Around the World in Eighty Days. Paris, the horny Trojan shepherd, had to sail to Sparta to find his Helen, starting the Trojan War in the process. With online computer dating. From QueerMatch, Phineas would have found that QueerMatch's free gay dating services. That takes gay dating online.
