Westsail 32 Hull #667. Tuesday, December 11, 2012. I used a hand scraper, something similar to this. But without the high price tag, and found the removal very easy. I will spend, hopefully, very little time with the random orbital to clean up the balance of the bottom. Time Today: 3.5 hours. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Westsail 32 Hull #667: September 2012

Westsail 32 Hull #667. Sunday, September 30, 2012. On Sunday, September 30th, I turned my attention back to the deck. The initial work I had done removing the flaking gelcoat begged for completion - filling and fairing. With just this in mind today, I stepped aboard the Westsail with intentions (and tools) to work on fairing the decks in preparation for primer. Pictured below is the port side of the foredeck. Looking aft along the starboard side deck. Looking forward along the starboard side deck. Severa...

Westsail 32 Hull #667. Sunday, October 26, 2014. Back on The Bottom! Since finishing grad school, my free-time has opened up dramatically; however, I have since taken on a project fabricating new brightwork and painting a sailing dinghy (see www.awee1.blogspot.com. So my time on the W32 has been spare to none! Anyway, sticking to the commitment I made to myself, and with daylight burning, I managed to get 1/2 an hour on the starboard bottom sanding. Total Time: .5 hours. October 28, 2014 at 5:52 AM.

Westsail 32 Hull #667. Monday, December 30, 2013. Engine Template (Beta 38). First order of business was to deconstruct the pallet I had around the shop over the last couple of months. The pallet delivered a load of meranti, and while it was not cabinet or marine grade plywood, it was good enough for an engine template. The template with "motor mounts" attached. With the engine template constructed, I'm looking forward to finding out if the factory engine pan is a "go" or "no go.". Total Time: 3 Hrs.
