Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Ask a Geneticist, again! I have another "Ask a Geneticist" answer posted. This one was very interesting to write. Hopefully I did an okay job. Lysine Rich: March 2011
http://lysine-rich.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 31, 2011. Because Julie told us this story of camping at Red Rock Canyon after lab meeting today. A thin pad provided insulation from the ground, and Sheila was snug in her sleeping bag. The stars above her were impossibly bright, a million nightlights to watch over her. After such a long day, her arms and legs were almost numb: she didn’t notice the feeling of insects as they crawled along their way. She only heard the ever-present crickets. Lysine Rich: October 2010
http://lysine-rich.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 06, 2010. Naturally, this led both of us in one direction, and the discussion of various Cirque Du Soleil caterpillar acts. There's a caterpillar act in Varekai, and one in Ovo, that we could think of. We decided ours would be better. Chris took a picture of the caterpillar as the Muni arrived. If it's just for fun, I might as well just goof off (or the equivalent) each week, doing tricks I enjoy, learning new ones occasionally. Why am I taking these lessons? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Lysine Rich: August 2010
http://lysine-rich.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 27, 2010. Ask a Geneticist 2. Once again, I have a short essay. Posted for the "Ask a Geneticist" feature. All of that was a coping mechanism because I had trouble imagining the kind of person who would write in with that question. "I want my kids to look like me. How can I use science to do that? I mean, first of all, on a certain level - every kid looks like their parents. But who doesn't get that? Who wouldn't know that, or have noticed that? Do I feel some sense of connected-ness deriv...

Lysine Rich: Drabble: Nebulize
http://lysine-rich.blogspot.com/2011/09/drabble-nebulize.html
Saturday, September 03, 2011. Hey, an early one. And one that I rather like. I've finally told enough of a story that I feel like it has a beginning, middle, and end. So that's something. It still feels like the beginning of something longer, and there's still more things open at the end than resolved, but it's a drabble so I feel like there are allowances made. 8220;There are… things. His voice is shrill; almost crazed. You see it every day. But you’ve never felt. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Lysine Rich: September 2011
http://lysine-rich.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 18, 2011. What happened to the drabbles? So, you may have noticed that I have totally fallen off the wagon. There are a couple reasons for this. One is that I've started reading compulsively, all the Arthurian legend I can find. Right now I'm sitting next to a pile of books that is at least a foot and a half high, and it is staring at me with big doe eyes and saying "Why aren't you reeeeeading meeee? In the meantime, I'm also making a corset! And teaching myself embroidery! 8220;Stop it...

Lysine Rich: Drabble: Substrate
http://lysine-rich.blogspot.com/2011/09/drabble-substrate.html
Thursday, September 01, 2011. For some reason this took me back to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, with "An audience! A lucky thing we came along.". You'd think I would be all Michaelis-Menten with this one, but no, I chose Stoppard. Let this be a lesson to you: I will always, always choose Stoppard. Of course, now that it's written, I'm not sure I got across what I wanted to. 8221; cried Bethany, and she tugged on my hand. “Let's go see the circus, can we, daddy? Lysine Rich: Drabble: Gammon
http://lysine-rich.blogspot.com/2011/09/drabble-gammon.html
Wednesday, September 07, 2011. I'm super late, because work today was a nightmare and a half, and then Ceili lasted until they kicked us out of the Gelato shop. The latter totally made up for the former, of course. Here is a drabble about lies and ham, because Gammon means a lie, but it sounds like ham. Christopher only had to share with his parents and his father's friend, who had nowhere else to go. 8220;You don't keep kosher, do you? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Friday, September 02, 2011. Let me first say that really, there shouldn't. She dried herself with a towel, but the shadow wouldn’t come off. EDIT: I totally thought that setting the "Published on" time for sometime, like, six hours from now would hold this for six hours. No such luck. Either I'll figure out a way to do that or I'll just know in my heart that I'm one ahead on drabbles for the month.). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Grad student. Mid twenties. I keep busy. Lysine Rich: Drabble: Inculcate
http://lysine-rich.blogspot.com/2011/09/drabble-inculcate.html
Thursday, September 08, 2011. I liked the "repetition" part of the definition most. This sort of works, I think. Years later, whenever she heard the poem, she would smile with proprietary pride, her nostalgia making up for the obvious and plentiful textual shortcomings. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
