Amelia Ray's Journal: The Icelandic Adventure begins!

http://ameliaraymusic.blogspot.com/2008/12/icelandic-adventure-begins.html

Viernes, 12 de diciembre de 2008. The Icelandic Adventure begins! The wind is fiercely blowing the snow around outside. Everything is covered in white. The metal cord beats gently against the flagpole, sounding like bells on reindeer in the distance. Downstairs the staff are preparing a Christmas feast, and the entire house smells of ham, fowl and pastries. This is the beginning of our winter residency in Skriðuklaustur, Iceland. We begged for a trip to the liquor store. The liquor stores in Iceland ...

Amelia Ray's Journal: abril 2008

http://ameliaraymusic.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Viernes, 4 de abril de 2008. After three weeks of hemming and hawing, I decided early Wednesday morning to head to Romania. Sami and I tried to change the tickets after she fractured her hand in Berlin, but the change cost more than the original tickets were worth, so, after much drunken prompting by my friend, Dana, I decided to go alone. Had to try, and told me three times to "be careful with luggage". He's letting you on for free! Get on the bus! I can't remember the last time I went to Benihana's&#46...

Amelia Ray's Journal: marzo 2008

http://ameliaraymusic.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Lunes, 31 de marzo de 2008. A nice cab ride to the airport on Friday morning, and four hours later I was in Berlin. First stop: the hot dog stand right outside of the airport for a sausage with sauerkraut, mustard, ketchup, sweet relish and fried onions. Second stop: Haus Schwarzenberg. I played here alot while I was in Berlin three years ago. I even appeared in Martin Jabs's documentary about the place, Schwarzenberg. Lindy has a wonderful store. We met Ari at the Maribel López Gallery. On Saturday we l...

Miércoles, 21 de mayo de 2008. And Hawaii ("America, BIG! Which I tried my best to understand. After dinner, we both nodded off to sleep. While I was delighted to find the Yoff/Dakar airport is named after Léopold Sédar Senghor. We made it to our apartment, a nice, quiet spot with a sea view. The next morning, Sami took me to a local breakfast spot: a fly-infested tent on the side of the road. Rte de la Cimetière, somehwere between Via Via. And the horse parking lot). She didn't seem very pleased that we...

Baby I've Been Thinking: October 2009

Baby I've Been Thinking. Can we have a moratorium on pop argot? Friday, October 30, 2009. Friday Funtime: San Franciscan Nights. The world's greatest record store, where I am incapable of spending under $50 once I get going. And attended the annual Bridge School Benefit concert. Neil Young's annual undertaking to raise funds for the Bridge School. Which aids children with speech and physical impairments to learn and express themselves. 1 Adam Sandler (! Baby I've Been Thinking: Lady Gaga, "Telephone"

http://babyivebeenthinking.blogspot.com/2010/05/lady-gaga-telephone.html

Baby I've Been Thinking. Can we have a moratorium on pop argot? Thursday, May 6, 2010. Lady Gaga, "Telephone". Few artists today are as polarizing as Lady Gaga - you either absolutely adore her or are absolutely mystified by her overwhelming success over the past 18 months. I'm not on board with her - didn't she learn from Elton John and Madonna that costumes only go so far, that you have to have some lyrical meat on your glittery bones? Gaga and Beyonce did, though. May 6, 2010 at 2:44 PM. I used to thi...

Baby I've Been Thinking. Can we have a moratorium on pop argot? Monday, July 27, 2009. Norman Connors, "You Are My Starship". Barry Scott's weekly Lost 45s. Show yesterday reminded me of a number of songs I neglected to include the Friday before last in my moon/space celebration set. Rather than miscontextual fluff like "Desert Moon," I should have gone with Bobby Womack's splendid take on "Fly Me to the Moon.". Links to this post. Thursday, July 23, 2009. Links to this post. I don't get personally excited about the Olympics, but I hope the athletes and fans in Vancouver are having the time of their lives right now. Here's a celebration of some Canadians who have contributed memorable pop and rock to their neighbors to the south. 1 Nikki Yanofsky, "I Believe". 2 Bob and Doug McKenzie f/ Geddy Lee, "Take Off". 3 Paul Anka, "I Don't Like to Sleep Alone".

Baby I've Been Thinking. Can we have a moratorium on pop argot? Tuesday, April 27, 2010. Marie Osmond, "This Is the Way That I Feel". Ever wonder what Marie Osmond would have sounded like if she had mashed up two Diana Ross hits, "Love Hangover" and "Ain't No Mountain High Enough"? Then you should be aware of absolutely sweet Marie's final Top 40 chart appearance as a solo artist, "This Is the Way That I Feel.". For an immense number of forgotten gems.). Baby I've Been Thinking. Can we have a moratorium on pop argot? Monday, August 31, 2009. The Legendary K.O., "George Bush Doesn't Care About Black People". This weekend saw the fourth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, an ugly storm that revealed an ugly side of America. Our nation's slothful indifference to the needs of the people trapped in the region was nothing short of shocking, and Kanye West was right to call it as he saw it. They rendered the refrain as "George Bush don't like. Links to this post.

Baby I've Been Thinking: Hootie and the Blowfish, "Can't Find the Time"

Baby I've Been Thinking. Can we have a moratorium on pop argot? Monday, April 26, 2010. Hootie and the Blowfish, "Can't Find the Time". At last, we complete our exploration of a too-forgotten oldie. Over the years, a few obscure bands took cracks at recording "Can't Find the Time." The members of the Orpheus Rising incarnation of the band have archived a few snippets. On the soundtrack of 2000's Me, Myself and Irene. There is a connection of which the Farrellys were probably unaware, though: Chevy Chase,...

Baby I've Been Thinking. Can we have a moratorium on pop argot? Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Rose Colored Glass, "Can't Find the Time". Can't Find the Time," meanwhile, found new life in the hands of Rose Colored Glass, a pop quartet who took it to #54 in the spring of 1971. I'd never have known about it had it not been for a Dick Bartley compilation, Collector's Essentials: The '70s. This one is my favourite (though it lacks the comedy of the original video). Jon Evens the Score. I should have put you down a long time ago. Before temptation began to grow. But now its too late to turn my head. Such collusion in this house of stone. No solution without broken bones. But some things are better left unsaid. I feel the rain falling down. Far too long Ive been lying here awaiting your wretched company. Theres always room for more. For was there really ever any trace of doubt. You and the wife would be found out. Once the truth got washed ashore? This lie will sound.

In Amelia's Words

Friday, August 2, 2013. I decided to do fettucini alfredo because I love fettucini alfredo, and I wanted to know how to make it for when I'm on my own. While I was making it, I learned that heavy cream is REALLY easy to burn. Also, it takes forever to boil water. I used two pot thingies. The bottom had water in it and the top had heavy whipping cream. The water starts to boil and when it does it sends heat up and doesn't burn so easily. Friday, July 19, 2013. Wednesday, July 25, 2012. I just got enough m...

mely you for ever

Mely you for ever.
