Guest Blogger: Alexis Merante. One of my favorite parts of my Social Medias class this past semester has been the opportunity to read blogs written by my classmates. Some of my favorite blogs to read were written by Alexis Merante. One of her most recent blogs discusses her recent internship at a local radio station. This post definitely got me excited about my internship next year! An Eye Opening Experience. I interned for Hall Communications Radio Group. The internship taught me that radio is something...

8220;I’m Going Out with my Boots on”. April 21, 2011. I have always been a big fan of Reese Witherspoon. I was so excited to hear she was getting married again. I have followed her life story since her divorce from Ryan Phillipe, to her long time boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal. Also, I was shocked t. O hear her and Jake broke up. I love country music and love how southern Reese is. She didn’t care what people thought about her, she simply wanted to be comfortable! Do you blame her ladies? Hopefully, Reese and...

Kobe Bryant’s Gay Slur | Shanti-Janae

Life Through My Eyes! Kobe Bryant’s Gay Slur. Can bashing a community really hurt you? Especially if it’s the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community! Most people don’t realize how strong of a community the LGBT is. Most people don’t realize that these people have a high buying power (double income no children) and that they usually have high degrees and are very successful. 8220;The words expressed do not reflect my feelings towards the gay and lesbian communities.”. Well in closing, I love...

Emergency Landing | Emily's Blog
https://eleine12.wordpress.com/2011/04/05/emergency-landing
April 5, 2011. If you were mid flight on a plane, smelled an electrical burning smell and had to do an emergency landing how would you feel? Better yet, if it was your airline what would you do and how would you react? This past weekend Southwest Airlines had two different planes make emergency landings because of various technical difficulties which they later found out to be subsurface cracks. 3 Instead of sweeping things under the rug to avoid dealing with them, communicate the problem so that you can...

Facebook Fans mean Nothing! | Emily's Blog
https://eleine12.wordpress.com/2011/03/29/facebook-fans-mean-nothing
March 29, 2011. Facebook Fans mean Nothing! When a company creates a Facebook page a lot of them think that the more fans they have, the more successful their efforts are. But that is actually not the case. Coca-Cola has nearly 24 million fans on Facebook which is 7 million fewer than Michael jackson. This number means nothing, it is simply a vanity measure for show. In a recent article from R agan’s PR Daily. 1 They are not a measure of impressions. 2 They are not a measure of advocacy. Fill in your det...

Would you donate a kidney because of Facebook?! | Emily's Blog

April 5, 2011. Would you donate a kidney because of Facebook? When I think of Facebook, i think of social networking, advertising, and a public relations forum for businesses. Who knew that a simple status update could persuade someone to donate an organ! Luckily, a man saw the message and notified her that he would be willing to donate and had the correct blood type. The transplant was successful and both men alright. I wonder if this will change the way the waiting list for organs will work? On April 1...

Journalism in the New Age | Emily's Blog
https://eleine12.wordpress.com/2011/03/09/journalism-in-the-new-age
March 9, 2011. Journalism in the New Age. Its interesting to think that just 5 short years ago when I was in high school working on the school newspaper, everything print was normal. With each passing year, technology seems to be growing making the way news gets around much different. It is interesting to see how much things have changed, and to think that most of what I learned from working on the high school newspaper and even beginner level college courses has already started to become void due to tec...
