An American Girl in Italy: May 2011

http://americangirlinit.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

An American Girl in Italy. Tuesday, May 17, 2011. There is so much amazing produce at the farmer's market right now! Out of everything available strawberries and asparagus are definitely tied for the number one spot of most purchased. This weekend I decided to make jam out of some of the strawberries. The jam is super easy to make and so much more delicious than anything you could find at the store. I roughly followed the recipe here. Posted by Alexandra Smookler. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). An American Girl in Italy: February 2012

http://americangirlinit.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

An American Girl in Italy. Wednesday, February 29, 2012. My gnocchi - waiting to be cooked. The cuoco (chef) and her gnocchi with a much deserved glass of vino. Much to Andrea's olfactory dismay. I am excited to try these again. Next time, I would like to do spinach and ricotta gnocchi for a lighter take or gnocchi made with squash instead of potato like we tried last year at a restaurant up in the Dolomites. Posted by Alexandra Smookler. Location: Bologna, Italia. Tuesday, February 28, 2012. This is my ...

An American Girl in Italy: 26

http://americangirlinit.blogspot.com/2012/01/26.html

An American Girl in Italy. Tuesday, January 10, 2012. Today is my 26th birthday! You know how people often ask, "do you feel older? Usually, I look at them blankly and reply, "Um, no," but this year I do. For the first time, I really feel like an adult. My decisions feel like they carry significant weight and life feels substantial and not like the game it felt like in the past years. I feel excited about the future but also scared by the reality that this is serious. We went to Rimini - to the beach!

An American Girl in Italy: January 2011

http://americangirlinit.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

An American Girl in Italy. Tuesday, January 11, 2011. It started with a fancy dress. A fancy, surprise present - just specially picked out to go with the dress. A very dapper boyfriend. Andrea and I always end up staring at each other, with mouths gaping, in disbelief. It is not any less impressive when she sings opera! She has a wonderful and funny presense on stage that draws in people of all ages (the crowd on New Year's Eve was mostly comprised of older people and they loved the show! Last night for ...

An American Girl in Italy: January 2012

http://americangirlinit.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

An American Girl in Italy. Sunday, January 22, 2012. La Cova Fumada, in Barcelona, is one of my favorite restaurants in the world which I think is saying a lot seeing as I have lived in Italy for the past three years! We discovered the restaurant last year after reading about it on Food and Wine's website. Is a great place to find awesome restaurant recommendations). I have to say that if we had not read that recommendation we probably would not have gone in because the outside doesn't look like much.

American Girl Back in Colorado

Thursday, May 7, 2015. Spartan Race Attempt One. A Spartan Race is a series of obstacle races varying in distance and difficulty. We did the Spartan Sprint, which was 4.5 miles long with 23 obstacles. Ours was at Fort Carson- an Army base here in Colorado Springs, so it was designed by the military. When I first signed up, I thought "neat! Mud run", then I actually did some research and thought "shit. mud run plus a bunch of physically challenging, potentially impossible obstacles". The first obstacle wa...

American Girl in Helsinki. Saturday, March 27, 2010. And here I am basking in the love of two kittens sitting in my lap. Two bengal kittens. What a sweet and wonderful gift from a certain hair-and-height-challenged gentleman that is courting me. (OK, ok, he's bald and short, let's just call a spade a spade! He's lovely but he's not really someone I see myself "happily ever after" with. But these bengals. Wonderful. They are so clever, playful, and affectionate! Posted by Gerard Sillam.
