lnr model making: January 2015

Happy New Year Readers! Well, where did 2014 go? I know a lot of it for me went in unfinished personal modelling projects, but I was rather pleased with the row of cottages that I salvaged from disaster, and the viaduct. If you want to have a look at his epic thread on RMWeb, it's here:. Http:/ www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php? A lot of my models have been stand alone constructions and have not been bedded in to scenery, so it's been nice to finally see something in-situ. Tuesday, January 06, 2015.

A row of cottages in the making…. In terms of the layout, well I've decided to relay the track yet again, and have gone for a 4 track mainline layout that will cross a viaduct - an unprototypical 4 track viaduct that has now been built and is in the mid-stages of being painted (but more of that in a later post (hopefully). Now - back to the topic of the post…. Some time ago in my last post I mentioned the building of a row of cottages and I'm pleased to say that progress has been made. Https:/ www.yo...

Chas's Model Railway: February 2014
http://chasmodelrailway.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
An OO gauge model railway. Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Seaside Cottages . and a new toy. At the moment I'm quite into the idea of constructing small dioramas so as to experiment with different modelling techniques in a small and contained area. I came across a photo of seaside cottages at Mousehole which I fancied having a go at modelling, full of character and in an attractive setting too. But should the walls be of embossed styrene sheet or DAS? Off the shelf, bespoke, home made? I read a discussion on...

Chas's Model Railway: April 2014
http://chasmodelrailway.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
An OO gauge model railway. Friday, April 25, 2014. As unfocused as ever, I'm presently playing with a couple of dioramas. Very slowly as it happens what with one thing and another. The first is a scene based on Hale Station which has a wonderful canopy. Obviously that doesn't appear in the picture. I'm still figuring out how to do it. If there are no more posts on this, I didn't manage to figure it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Buckley, Flintshire, United Kingdom. View my complete profile.

Chas's Model Railway: December 2013
http://chasmodelrailway.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
An OO gauge model railway. Sunday, December 29, 2013. Seasons Greetings from the Westbay Hotel. As Google had gone to the trouble of adding snow to this image of the incomplete Westbay Hotel, I thought I would post it to illustrate the temperate climate of Westbay. No matter how much it snows, it never settles. Still plenty to do on the hotel in the new year - slating, guttering, balconies, signage and so on which I look forward to doing. In the meantime, a very happy new year to all. I have learned the ...

Well the original building I based the station building on, West Worthing, in the fifties had a double canopy at the front, and as of present day, it only retains the single canopy over the main entrance at the top of the steps - the gabled canopy over the steps having long gone:. Image courtesy of google maps. In this not great photo, you can see the canopy bracket and the supporting framework made from 1mm square styrene strip. I sprayed these with primer before gluing to the structure. At this point I...

Chas's Model Railway: October 2013
http://chasmodelrailway.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
An OO gauge model railway. Monday, October 28, 2013. Since finishing the parish church I have spent the last few weeks faffing about wondering what to build next. After only a brief few years modelling I am, I'm afraid, hooked and now when I have nothing to work on I feel at a loose end. Perversely though, I couldn't find the motivation to make anything. Very odd. Sunday, October 27, 2013. I have decided two things in the process. First, because I am easily distracted, building a diorama gives me a f...

Chas's Model Railway: January 2014
http://chasmodelrailway.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
An OO gauge model railway. Sunday, January 26, 2014. It's taken me ages to get round to the final few jobs that needed doing to the hotel what with Christmas, general laziness and starting other projects but the previously named Westbay Hotel is now finished. At some point I may get round to changing the hanging sign - my printer is just not fine enough to print anything at that scale which looks half decent. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
