Saturday, 6 July 2013. Always summer, always alone' - Brideshead Revisited. I'll admit that I get emotionally involved with literary characters very frequently, but no novel has ever repeatedly broken my heart so irrevocably as Evelyn Waugh's Brideshead Revisited. The lyricism of Waugh's opulent language draws me in from the first page every time and makes it one of the rare novels that improves upon each reading, disclosing new dimensions with every re-read.
