Kevin Kidney: The Ghastly Hatter
http://miehana.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-ghastly-hatter.html
Monday, May 04, 2015. The room they were in was an unfinished attic, and as they turned to run out the door, another ghostly manifestation appeared and blocked their way. He was a cloaked figure with an evil, grinning face. A hat box hung from his hand…". In 2009, Jody and I fabricated a reincarnation of the original Disneyland 1969 Hatbox Ghost. We were inspired by the famous publicity shot of Disney Imagineer Yale Gracey with the early mock-up of the ghost for the Disneyland attraction:. Hey, the offic...

Kevin Kidney: December 2014
http://miehana.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 26, 2014. Christmas with Old Friends. My favorite project this year was creating the corporate holiday greeting card for Warner Bros. Studios Animation. Warners currently owns the Hanna-Barbera film catalog and I was beyond thrilled when they asked me for an original design featuring the classic H-B characters. On the flip-side, Quick Draw McGraw and his sidekick Baba Louie are assisting from behind the scenes. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Follow the Kevin and Jody Show on Facebook. Disne...

Tuesday, June 17, 2014. Another One That Got Away: The "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" Master-Folio. Giant squid astern, sir! I've got a whale of a tale to tell you, lads. Another title for our proposed Walt Disney Master-Folio. Would have been 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Here were some of the riches we aimed to include:. In the years since we put together this proposal, the soundtrack recording was eventually released, first on iTunes and later as a CD by Intrada. Which you can purchase today! In the f...

Kevin Kidney: March 2014
http://miehana.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 10, 2014. Disneyland’s Soundsational Parade has some hidden surprises for those who look carefully. One of our favorites is Evinrude, the dragonfly who buzzes around in circles behind Tiana’s row boat on the Princess and the Frog. Our idea to include Evinrude began as a last-minute joke between me and Jody during the parade’s dress rehearsals. Watching the big riverboat come down Main Street reminded us of a favorite Disney movie from childhood— The Rescuers. Related story: Rescue Me! Art d...

Kevin Kidney: "Hawaiian Eye" Tiki
http://miehana.blogspot.com/2015/03/hawaiian-eye-tiki.html
Monday, March 30, 2015. Way back in 2006, as the collectible tiki mug craze was reaching its height, I made a special mug just for myself based on a (then) fifty-year-old television program that I was completely obsessed with. Hawaiian Eye. Produced by Warner Brothers in Burbank and originally broadcast on ABC-TV from 1959 to 1963, was a "private eye" adventure in modern Honolulu, with murder and mayhem set against the tropical scenery of the islands. The most familiar icon of Hawaiian Eye. Author Sven K...
