Archive for November, 2011. Step Into Our Tupperware. The brand name Tupperware. Has become synonymous with (and inaccurately used when describing) our many collections of cheap plastic containers and mismatched lids. The majority of these polyethylene containers are not Tupperware and only became available during the last two decades (replacing the oh-so inconvenient aluminum foil and plastic baggies for food storage). Get BPA out of food tins. BPA is a hormone-disrupting chemical linked to various cancers and other serious health problems. According to Health Canada, there are measurable levels of BPA in the urine of 95% of Canadians. In 2010, the chemical was placed on the government’s toxic substances list. For World Environment Day.
