Excelsior!: Normal People Don't Change the World
http://stillhigher.blogspot.com/2006/12/help-i-dont-want-to-be-normal.html
December 26, 2006. Normal People Don't Change the World. I am obsessed with a terrible fear. It is greater than any fear of torture, burning, drowning, or being kidnapped. It looms larger than my natural fear of death. Fears of falling, of darkness, and of hunger are dwarfed in comparison to it. Beside it, any other fears that I possess are nothing. I am afraid of being normal. I want God to plant my feet on higher ground. By His grace, I want to break away from the shallowness of a trite existence.

Excelsior!: Election 2006: My Thoughts
http://stillhigher.blogspot.com/2006/12/election-2006-my-thoughts.html
December 8, 2006. Election 2006: My Thoughts. On November 8th, I journaled some of my thoughts regarding the national election results on my flight home from the pro-life campaign I'd been working on:. I am thoroughly chagrined at the November 7th results nationally. What happened to the values voters? What happened to the new era of conservatism, the awakening that was supposed to be taking place in the hearts and minds of the American people? What did they think 'marriage' meant? How can 12 years of ma...

August 18, 2007. Caught in the Middle: Richard Nixon on Evolution. What would their conclusion be? The future of America hung in the balance. Below is Nixon's story, the cry of a generation. What Can I Believe? Richard M. Nixon, October 9, 1933. Whittier College, Whittier, California. But immediately I find myself confronted with an unanswerable problem. Logic tells me to take nothing for granted, but what can I do with religion? I know that this idea is a laughing stock among competent scholars, but in ...

Excelsior!: Escaping the Comfort Zone
http://stillhigher.blogspot.com/2006/12/escaping-comfort-zone.html
December 24, 2006. Escaping the Comfort Zone. There are many places to go in the world, but you will never get there by sitting in your easy chair. So read a sign that I saw in the airport a few days ago. It's a very simple thought, yet one that relates in profound ways to many other areas of life. It might be re-phrased to read, ". There are many things to do for God in life, but you will never be able to do them from your comfort zone. What is a comfort zone? Webster's defines it as ". Sounds wonderful...

Excelsior!: Amazing Grace
http://stillhigher.blogspot.com/2007/06/amazing-grace.html
June 30, 2007. William Wilberforce was a rising young political star when an earth-shattering event altered the course of his life forever: he found God. Or, rather, as he explained it, "I think He found me.". A Bristol Bay Productions film, tells his story, one that cries out to be heard by the apathetic world of today. God didn't leave Wilberforce alone for long. As he grappled with his newly-found faith, Wilberforce was faced with a dilemma. That you can do both. Which is why we will do them anyway.

January 18, 2007. Vote Yes.for Life! It's been nearly 34 years since the infamous Supreme Court ruling. Roe vs. Wade. The decision that legalized abortion in the United States for any reason whatsoever, even for no reason at all. Excelsior!: Ideas Control the World
http://stillhigher.blogspot.com/2007/03/ideas-control-world.html
March 22, 2007. Ideas Control the World. Adapted from a speech given at the Missouri TeenPact class, March 2006. A few days ago, when we were all in the Capitol rotunda for the class photograph, I noticed a unique inscription carved on the Capitol wall. It stated simply, "Ideas Control the World.". I ignored the photographer for a moment to focus on the implications of that statement. Do ideas really control the world? I have come to the conclusion that they do. Why not send Christ to enrich mankind with...
