North East Birder Ramlings: January 2013
http://andrewkinghorn.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, 24 January 2013. Not much to report really since last post, couple of easy year ticks picked up with Barn Owl. At Teesside, Slavonian Grebe. And odds and ends. Yesterday was a productive day down on the North Tees Marshes, highlight undoubtedly the 2nd winter Yellow-legged Gull. Found by Dave Foster. Showed superbly well allowing for some study, more distinctive than I was expecting actually with a Caspian Gull. Feel to it but with a GBBGull. Dave had a 1st winter Caspian Gull. I got a quick lo...

http://andrewkinghorn.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 22 May 2013. To quote Blackbeard of Pirates of the. 8220;There I were…….resting”. It was around 11ish on the evening of Friday and I was all ready to go to bed, as is typical of me it was time to refresh BirdGuides before I went to sleep. Imagine my shock when “ Dusky Thrush. 8221;, “. 8221;, and “. 8221; appeared on the screen with the beloved and well known three “! All well and end well yes? There has been some disagreement regarding the birds identification on a well known birding forum...
North East Birder Ramlings: That's why birders go to Iceland...
http://andrewkinghorn.blogspot.com/2015/01/thats-why-birders-go-to-iceland.html
Sunday, 11 January 2015. That's why birders go to Iceland. Couldn't resist going to see the Harlequin Duck. In Aberdeen on Saturday, I heard it had been showing well, but I had not quite expected it to be showing quite as well as it actually did. It looks rather settled as well, may stay to become even more stunning yet? Not even Photoshop could save my horrendous camera work at 15:30. Juv Ice. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Amble Caspian Gull Revisited. Thats why birders go to Iceland.
North East Birder Ramlings: British Life List
http://andrewkinghorn.blogspot.com/p/british-life-list.html
Bird British Life List – 1 - 196 is in NO particular order of my first sighting. If you would like to find out if I have seen a particular species then on your keboard press and hold "CTRL" and then press the "F" key. Then type in the name of the species and it should find that species on the page and this will indicate I have seen it. 001 – Red-throated Diver - Holy Island, Northumberland - 05/10/2008. 002 – Great-northern Diver - Isle of Mull, Argyll & Bute - 14/04/2009. 018 – White-fronted Goose...

http://andrewkinghorn.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Monday, 17 March 2014. Long time, no post! It has been ages since I last blogged, this is just a quick blog post of what I hope to be many to get back into a habit of blogging more regularly. So much has happened in birding since the last time I have blogged, 2014 has already been absolutely fantastic with Yellow-rumped Warbler. And Great Spotted Cuckoo. Being the clear highlights so far. Here are my attempts to do the Great Spotted Cuckoo justice. I absolutely love Red-breasted Geese. Long time, no post!

Birdwatching and Photography by Mick and Sylvia Brennan. Sunday, 30 March 2014. This Greenfinch was very angry when the Redpoll came to the feeders at Saltholme last weekend. Yesterday we had our first Wheatears at Kildale along with lots of Meadow Pipit. It was nice to see the Red Grouse so close to the road and not at all bothered. The Little Owl was sitting out as we passed on our way home which made an excellent end to a lovely day. Links to this post. Thursday, 13 March 2014. Links to this post.

Thursday, 5 February 2015. Anyone know any more on this? Even on the pontoon it preferred the Redshanks, totally avoiding the Herring Gulls. Had a dodge to Nosterfield NR on the way home, highlight being the distant drake American Wigeon and a Brent Goose. Last time I visited I was gulling, saw this beauty. Gotta love a juv Casp! Wednesday, 4 February 2015. On Saturday I headed out north west in order to see the Ridgway's Canada Goose. All pics of Golden Eagle by Harry Murphy. I'd never had views like it...
