Illustration and Gothic Photography of Ian Sokoliwski: February 2015

Friday, February 27, 2015. Robot And Motorcycle - IN SPACE! Well, space features prominently in this one, at any rate. The loose concept for this one had been Emily as a James Bond villain in space, but then it just kept morphing. And that is a very bold contrast of colours going on. Prints of this piece are available at this link for purchase. Also, be sure to check out my Facebook page. I'm almost at thirteen hundred 'likes', so let's see if we can push that over the top! Illustration and Gothic Photography of Ian Sokoliwski: Sword-Wielding Robot
http://ianthecomicartist.blogspot.com/2015/08/sword-wielding-robot.html
Sunday, August 2, 2015. The cityscapes are getting more and more elaborate. Another new piece with Stephanie, adding in both a very stylized jetpack and sword. And I want to play with the raised roadways more in future cityscape pieces. Prints of this piece can be purchased at my RedBubble gallery. Also, be sure to check out my Facebook page. Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Giant Robot Painting and 2014 In Review. Here we have my final painting of 2014. It's another giant robot piece with the two Erins (I've taken to calling them Erin 2), only this time I reversed them, with Laydee Erin as the giant robot and Erin B as the human-sized one. A fun bit in a world that certainly looks worse for wear. Prints of this piece are available for purchase at this link. Here's to a happy and prosperous 2015 to one and all! Posted by Ian Sokoliwski. Illustration and Gothic Photography of Ian Sokoliwski: January 2015
http://ianthecomicartist.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 27, 2015. This was a tricky one to develop. This is the first piece with Richelle, and it's a doozy. We came up with the notion of a spider-like robot, something I have played with in the past, but never quite so creepily realized, I think. This is what crawls around in disused spacecraft hangars, I suppose. Prints of this piece can be purchased at this link. And, as always, please check out my Facebook page. For more of my work. Illustration and Gothic Photography of Ian Sokoliwski: May 2015

Friday, May 29, 2015. I don't do enough water features in these paintings. I should rectify that. My first painting of Stephanie where I've given her wings. I've gotta say, that is one angry-looking sky in the background. Prints of this piece are available for purchase at this link. Also, be sure to check out my Facebook page. For more of my work. Illustration and Gothic Photography of Ian Sokoliwski: November 2014

Friday, November 28, 2014. Iron Man Space Armor Variant. It's been about a year since the last time I did an Iron Man painting, so I decided to do something about that this week. It's fun to tinker with designs. In this case, I took the general premise for the Space Armour and tweaked it, giving it a more Marvel Movieverse look. And that is easily the most intense space background I have created thus far. I can be commissioned for work like this through my website. Posted by Ian Sokoliwski. I started wit...

Thursday, October 30, 2014. Things I've Learned Working As An Artist. I turn 45 today. It's been making me reflect on a few things, stuff I thought I'd share here. During all this time, I've met and worked with a lot of very cool people, been involved in some great projects, and learned a lot about what it is that I do and what it is that I continue to want to do with my artistic life. This is a brief list of some of the things I've learned and would like to pass on. I'm certain there are may more things...

Illustration and Gothic Photography of Ian Sokoliwski: August 2015
http://ianthecomicartist.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 28, 2015. Painting Process: Robot Angel Over Tokyo. Here's another in my progress posts, where I go over the basic steps I use to do one of my robot (and other) illustrations. Like all the other pieces in these posts, this was painted in Photoshop, 300dpi, in RGB, at 12"x18". The next step was developing the buildings and signage in the background, as well as the very busy traffic patterns. With the basics drawn out, I then lay out the various metal details on separate layers. As alway...
