AND SEW IT GOES: Sacajawea - day 5 of our American adventure

http://andsewitgoes.blogspot.com/2015/05/sacajawea-day-5-of-our-american.html

Monday, May 11, 2015. Sacajawea - day 5 of our American adventure. When we decided to spend a night in Lander I read up on the area and learned that the gravesite of Sacajawea was nearby on the Wind River Reservation at Fort Washakie. And her baby and marveling at her courage and strength and importance to the success of the mission. Here is where we found her. Sacajawea Cemetary, Fort Washakie, Wyoming. Here were a section of Grants—one proper stone, the rest simple and handmade. Died of a fever at the ...

AND SEW IT GOES: February 2015

http://andsewitgoes.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 25, 2015. When it rains, it pours. Seems like a lot of things have come together all at the same time. I'm feeling really "out there" this month. Unplanned, but it has made for some nice excitement here. First, the article and pattern for my little sculptural birds that was first published in 2009 has been republished in a new Quilting Arts publication called "Make It". It is great to see that they are still viable and pleases me that people continue to enjoy them. This was so fun!

AND SEW IT GOES: Looking back, looking ahead...

http://andsewitgoes.blogspot.com/2015/05/looking-back-looking-ahead.html

Thursday, May 07, 2015. Looking back, looking ahead. I am in the passenger seat. Ray is driving and we are out at the dry end of the Columbia River Gorge. Soon we will head up that hill that takes us from the river and out into the desert that comprises the greater part of Oregon, but I am thinking of it as the beginning of the rest of America. Hour three of a 37-day journey. But more about that later. Backs of heads and PowerPoint. Backs of heads and PowerPoint, but look—that's me on the screen! The peo...

AND SEW IT GOES: May 2015

http://andsewitgoes.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, May 30, 2015. Now, where was I? I think this is day 23 of this trip and I am falling behind with my blogs and photos. I think I left off in Charlotte, and then what? It's beginning to run together. That was next. We spent two nights in Asheville, NC at the Beaufort Inn. This was a little splurge and celebration that Roy was onboard for the rest of the trip. Here he is in front of the Inn. We spent some time downtown in Asheville. The Grove Arcade building was beautiful, with some nice shops.

AND SEW IT GOES: Chicago - Day 11

http://andsewitgoes.blogspot.com/2015/05/chicago-day-11.html

Sunday, May 17, 2015. Chicago - Day 11. Tulips on Michigan Avenue. We've spent the past two days in Chicago and I have taken so many photos that my system has fallen behind. It will take me a couple days to catch up, but I am finally ready to start. Yesterday morning we took the Chicago Architecture Tour given by the Chicago Architecture Foundation, and it was grand! I took way too many photos to post. Here's my iPad screen after I winnowed them down to my best shots. And a few of my favorites. Ah Chicag...

Running Hen: Sew Happy Together

http://runninghen.blogspot.com/2015/06/sew-happy-together.html

Brave Little Chicken.frolicking in the drama of fabrics and threads! Wednesday, June 3, 2015. One of my VERY FAVORITE SONGS in the 1960s (so long ago! Was "So Happy Together" by the Turtles (1967, when I was.oh, let's not go there). I wore out the little 45 record that I had. I still love the tune. (Don't know the song? Listen and watch here, vintage 1967: Turtles singing "So Happy Together". Looking at their "outfits" and antics during this "live performance" should make any quilter creative, LOL. Ive a...

fiberhart: Soap Challenge: Butterfly Swirl

http://fiberhart.blogspot.com/2015/01/soap-challenge-butterfly-swirl.html

Wednesday, January 21, 2015. Soap Challenge: Butterfly Swirl. I knew from the outset I would not make more than one attempt to get this one. I've not done a lot of hanger swirls, although I like the look. Zahida of Handmade in Florida. Has done some amazing soaps using the hanger. I also wanted to try something different for me- using a color for a background rather than white. I decided to go with a gold background, and white, black, and deep red for the swirls. So far, the colors look good, just what I...

Quilting Librarian: July 2011

http://quiltinglibrarian.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

A web journal about quilting, libraries, rubber stamping, card making, books, creativity, spirituality and family. Tuesday, July 12, 2011. Picdure of Quilting Librarian. Friday, July 8, 2011. Back from New Orleans. We are back from New Orleans. It was hot and humid, but livable. The one thing I had a hard time getting used to was how high they set the air conditioners in the convention center and the restaurants. It was unbearable and very cold. In fact I had to leave a meeting because I was so cold.

fiberhart: Third Time's the Charm- Spoon Swirl with the Soap Club Challenge

http://fiberhart.blogspot.com/2014/12/third-times-charm-spoon-swirl-with-soap.html

Thursday, December 11, 2014. Third Time's the Charm- Spoon Swirl with the Soap Club Challenge. Artic Waters, by Beverly Hart. I made a third batch of soap Sunday morning, hoping to finally get it all right and end up with a bar of soap I'd be happy to enter in the challenge. I got everything together- checking twice to make sure I didn't forget ANYTHING. My son was kind enough to take pictures of the process, after I'd made the batter. And, since this was a spoon swirl challenge, I decided to texture the...

fiberhart: July 2015

http://fiberhart.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

Friday, July 17, 2015. To any of my fiber friends who still cruise by here wondering what has happened to me- yes, this is another soaping post. However- don't despair- I have actually been doing a fair amount of fiber work the past month or so- I just haven't gotten around to posting it. And, it will not be too long before all the soaping stuff will be migrated to another site. Bear with me! So, I got my mold ready with my home-made cardboard divider. . . Then I poured this into the violet and yellow so...

fiberhart: August 2014

http://fiberhart.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 22, 2014. Color is my Therapy. I have been playing in the dyes again, and even tried something new. I should have plenty of fabric to create with this winter, and I'm hoping for a few more dye days before the snow flies. Who sent us each a piece of hand dyed fabric to use in the latest Tangled Textiles challenge, I spent a day doing flat gradation dyeing. Some turned out better than others, but I'll use every one. I also threw some soda soaked fabric in the drip bins, and got some beauties.

and sew it began | My Daily Threads…

And sew it began. My Daily Threads…. August 9, 2015. Lots have been going on around here, how about you? I got back from Florida on Tuesday night of last week and we had a great time. I got a lot of sewing done and it felt good to get so much accomplished. Each day I would start working on my mini sawtooth star blocks, they became known as my baby teeth! I was able to get all 12 of my blocks done and I was one happy girl. I thought they sure turned out cute! This is our first place we stayed while in FL.

Friday, December 24, 2010. I got a new sewing machine from my sweet hubs! The Janome Magnolia 7318, I think it's the perfect machine for me to learn on and to grow with me too. We do gift exchange on Christmas Eve in my family, so we also went out to mom and dad's- I gave my mom the tree skirt and. let's just say she was pretty touched. :) It made me so happy to finally get to give it to her. I'll get pics of the finished project soon! Tuesday, December 21, 2010. Peeling off the backing. Feel through the...
