The Jack Creek Coyles. The last best place. Above all, try something. Franklin D. Roosevelt. Saturday, April 16, 2011. Hey there. Katie here. First off, sorry about this month and the lack of communication via blog. I am finally taking the leap and starting my own art school for children here in Ennis, and my life has been a whirlwind of crazy lately. That said, the action has been few and far between with these dang goats! What do you think? Pregnant, or just finally up to size? Also, our sister herd, i...

The Jack Creek Coyles. The last best place. Above all, try something. Franklin D. Roosevelt. Tuesday, April 26, 2011. April 26, 2011. I've decided to try to write as little as possible for this blog post, and let some of you just enjoy some photos. Or hate them, if you're sick of the snow, as it seems from 99% of the people on Facebook. The other day Katie mentioned how she thought it was so cool when a Robin perches on the very tops of trees. I love her, she is the best. Curious about the snow. New BLO...

The Jack Creek Coyles. The last best place. Above all, try something. Franklin D. Roosevelt. Saturday, March 26, 2011. Bok Bok. Bagok! Here's more chick and poult photos from this gorgeous spring morning. Also in the photo above you can see they type of chick feeder use in the brooder. The flock is very interested in the brooder, especially Delilah Jones, our barred rock. I am hoping this will cause her to go broody this spring and maybe we can even hatch some chicks here at home! Are you going to have a baby shower? The question has been asked of me at least a dozen times. I consciously have to tell myself not to cringe. Don't get me wrong, I love parties, but what I DON'T love, often associated with said showers (whether it's a bridal, wedding, or baby shower) is the consumerism usually involved.

Last weekend marked our halfway point through my first pregnancy. (20 weeks of 40, for those of you unfamiliar with human gestation, don't worry, sometimes I still count to five months like the goats.sigh). First off, during my first 12 weeks of pregnancy, known as the first trimester, my eating habits took a harsh U-turn for the WORST! Not only had I spe...

Our friends Marcella and Chris sent us a box of goodies a few weeks ago, and what was inside but this very cool device for rolling out linguine and spaghetti, and a stand to dry the pasta on. Thanks, guys. High-fives. Mr Pfeiffer eagerly awaiting any dropped pasta shrapnel. Blue Cheese Pasta Sauce. Serve over som...

The Jack Creek Coyles. The last best place. Above all, try something. Franklin D. Roosevelt. Sunday, November 13, 2011. The does have recently decided to throw out some serious milk my way, so I made some cream cheese, pictured above. On the left is blueberry strawberry, and on the right is vegetable garlic (our favorite). These cheeses are the best, and a great excuse to splurge on bagels! With the leftover whey drained from the goat cheeses, I am experimenting with Lacto-fermentation? Since we don't ha...

The Jack Creek Coyles. The last best place. Above all, try something. Franklin D. Roosevelt. Sunday, May 29, 2011. A Very Busy Spring. I am sure you have figured out that we are having a crazy spring here at Jack Creek, and as a result have suffered from a serious case of 'lack-of-blogging'. With the first session of classes at the newly opened art school and a very busy trip to Connecticut, we have barely had time to breath this May. Whew! I guess they really aren't babies anymore. And one last parting s...
