Pigtails and Gender Roles: Discussion?: womanism
http://womanism.livejournal.com/3996.html
Guys Like Me, Aimee Mann. Pigtails and Gender Roles: Discussion? I can never think of anything explicity feminism-related to post about lately, and no one's posted for awhile, so I thought I'd posit a question: what do you think the general reaction would be towards a guy who wears his hair in pigtails? What do you guys think? Any possibility for discussion on how this relates to stereotypical images of gender? Post a new comment. We will log you in after post. We will log you in after post.

Oh, sleep forever in the Latmian Cave.". To commemorate her birthday, here is the last sonnet from Millay's "Fatal Interview". Oh, sleep forever in the Latmian cave,. Mortal Endymion, darling of the Moon! Her silver garments by the senseless wave. Shouldered and dropped and on the shingle strewn,. Her fluttering hand against her forehead pressed,. Her scattered looks that troubled all the sky,. Her rapid footsteps running down the west. Of all her altered state, oblivious lie! Post a new comment.

“Interim” by Edna St. Vincent Millay The room is full of you! -- As I…: edna_millay

It is just poetic justice (. It is just poetic justice. Interim by Edna St. Vincent Millay. The room is full of you! As I came in. And closed the door behind me, all at once. A something in the air, intangible,. Yet stiff with meaning, struck my senses sick! Sharp, unfamiliar odors have destroyed. Each other room's dear personality. The heavy scent of damp, funereal flowers, -. The very essence, hush-distilled, of Death -. Has strangled that habitual breath of home. Sweet garden of a thousand years ago.

What Lips My Lips Have Kissed: edna_millay

What Lips My Lips Have Kissed. I recently played all eight of. S settings of Edna St. Vincet Millay poems (mostly from "Renascence") on my radio show, reading each poem before I played each one. My favorite is "What Lips My Lips Have Kissed":. What lips my lips have kissed, and where, and why,. I have forgotten, and what arms have lain. Under my head till morning; but the rain. Is full of ghosts tonight, that tap and sigh. Upon the glass and listen for reply;. And in my heart there stirs a quiet pain.

Daphne, by Edna St. Vincent Millay. Why do you follow me? Any moment I can be. Nothing but a laurel-tree. Any moment of the chase. I can leave you in my place. A pink bough for your embrace. Yet if over hill and hollow. Still it is your will to follow,. I am off; - to heel, Apollo! Post a new comment. We will log you in after post. We will log you in after post. Dirge without Music: edna_millay
http://edna-millay.livejournal.com/2587.html
Edna St. Vincent Millay. I am not resigned to the shutting away of loving hearts in the hard ground. So it is, and so it will be, for so it has been, time out of mind:. Into the darkness they go, the wise and the lovely. Crowned. With lilies and with laurel they go; but I am not resigned. Lovers and thinkers, into the earth with you. Be one with the dull, the indiscriminate dust. A fragment of what you felt, of what you knew,. A formula, a phrase remains, - - but the best is lost. Post a new comment.
