Island and Travel Information for Anegada in the British Virgin Islands. January 13, 2015. Anegada, literally “drowned island” is the Northernmost of the British Virgin Islands. It lies approximately 15 miles (24 km) north of Virgin Gorda. Anegada has only about 300-400 inhabitants (the 2010 census was 275) and there are about 200 tourists visiting per day. Aside from tourism, the key source of income on Anegada is commercial fishing, most of the fresh fish and lobster in the BVIs comes from Anegada.
