A simple guide to flyfishing. March 25, 2010. The wait is over. The season opens in early March but most anglers will leave it untill Paddies day before hitting the lakes. The reason for this is the cold ,some older anglers will tell you that April is plenty time enough to venture out. The last day of September brings the fishing season to a finish ,as shortly afterwards the trout are preparing to head up the rivers on their annual spawning trip. Laquo; The Late Jimmie Nally. Most trout fisheries open between February 15th and March 1st and close on September 30th with some exceptions that close on various dates between September 15th and October 12th.
