Standing Up, Speaking Out. They Are Not The Same. Opinion Sandwich →. A couple of times in the past few days, I’ve seen Facebook friends share a photo with a version the following message:. 8220;I was going to complain about the heat, but then I remembered that there are US soldiers in desert countries carrying lots of gear and being shot at.”. But why aren’t they posting:. On July 3, 2012 in Uncategorized. They Are Not The Same. Opinion Sandwich →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Standing Up, Speaking Out. A night long remembered →. On Newspapers and Responses. Back in August, Ryan and I were interviewed by the Kansas City Star about our lives. The article. Ran on September 4th. I’ve read some of the comments that have appeared on the online version of the article, but it seems that anything truly mean were moderated out long before I got there. Standing Up, Speaking Out. Somewhere in the Crowd. They Are Not The Same →. The joke isn’t as funny as you think it is. We’ve all heard the joke. 8220;All marriages are same-sex marriages. Because after a few years it’s always the same sex.”. 8220;Gays should have the right to be just as miserable as the rest of us.”. And I want you to know something about these jokes. They’re not funny. And I just want the chance to be as happy as they are. On June 3, 2012 in Uncategorized. Somewhere in the Crowd. Notif...

Somewhere in the Crowd | Ben's Blog

Standing Up, Speaking Out. I promise I’m happy for you, it’s just that…. The joke isn’t as funny as you think it is →. Somewhere in the Crowd. Do you know what is the single thing that most gay people have in common? It’s also the leading cause of being straight, just so you know.) So even if this man who calls himself a pastor were to successfully round-up all the “lesbians and queers,” he wouldn’t succeed in his plan, because new gays are being born every day. Somewhere in that audience is a teenager w...

The two parties are pretty much the same anyway.”. 8220;It’s like picking between the lesser of two evils.”. 8220;It’s just a matter of deciding who’s gonna lie to you less.”. Wondering from the Fold of God: September 2006
http://thefoldofgod.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Wondering from the Fold of God. I am James, 27 years old, first year student at the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church, postulant for Holy Orders. I have used this previously as a place to post preaching manuscripts, occassionally with reflections on the preaching itself. While I am focusing on my studies and preaching less, I may use it more to post reflections on the Daily Office. For more discussion and connections, please contact me at jmjoiner@gmail.com. Writing again | I Will Sing
https://shewillsing.wordpress.com/2011/11/15/writing-again
It has been a long time since I’ve posted here, and even longer since I’ve posted something of real substance. I think about writing all the time, but for some reason I haven’t been doing it. I think it’s time to start writing again, to make a commitment to writing. Will anyone read it? I have no idea. Does that matter? Not so much. I need to write – if only to express myself, to see my words on the page (screen) and process what I’m thinking about. By Sophia on November 15, 2011. Enter your comment here.

The Occupier in the Collar | I Will Sing
https://shewillsing.wordpress.com/2011/11/29/the-occupier-in-the-collar
The Occupier in the Collar. Truth be told, the people’s mic gets frustrating after a while, and is a very very slow way to get anything done. But something about it sold me on OWS. I was pretty sure that something important was happening if people in this big, anonymous city had found a way to be heard even while being prevented from using amplified sound. But there is a part of me that is too blunt, too real, to honest for the niceties of many churches. I’m not really into being diplomatic or ...One ind...

Lenten Discipline | I Will Sing
https://shewillsing.wordpress.com/2012/03/13/lenten-discipline
My husband and I each took on an individual lenten discipline this year, and, in addition, one that we shared. All three were challenging, and we’re doing pretty well with keeping them. Of course, as always seems to be the case in my life, nothing is ever what it seems. My real challenges this Lent have had nothing to do with what I chose to do to mark the season. Magnetic, fascinating, tempting…. I don’t know. And I continue to fight depression and to a lesser extent anxiety, sometimes with more success...
