Jonathan Chilvers: May 2010
http://jonathanchilvers.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Always talking Religion and Politics. Thursday, May 20, 2010. Running off the edge of solid ground? Farewell to the election. The election made my typing fingers itchy. After two months of high political drama that itch has been well and truly scratched. The leaders' debates, the Lib Dem surge, Bigotgate, election night and the flux and surprises that came as the nation negotiated its first hung parliament for 35 years. Unless I stay rooted in who I am by keeping time for silence, prayer and calm I will ...

Jonathan Chilvers: September 2010
http://jonathanchilvers.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Always talking Religion and Politics. Monday, September 06, 2010. Worth their weight in Gold: Long term tenancies must stay. The Coalition government has announced. That it is considering ending life time tenancies for tenants of housing associations or local authorities. David Cameron’s reasoning behind floating this change is that:. 8220;maybe in five or 10 years you will be doing a different job and be better paid and you won't need that home, you will be able to go into the private sector.”. If that ...

Jonathan Chilvers: April 2010
http://jonathanchilvers.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html
Always talking Religion and Politics. Tuesday, April 27, 2010. We're not stupid - tell us where you'll cut! Money isn't everything, but when the country's structural deficit is anywhere between £70 and £90 billion per year it's pretty important. Based on commitments made so far, the Liberal Democrats would need to cut an accumulated £51bn from spending on public services by 2017. Labour's plans would require a slightly smaller cut during that time of £47bn, the IFS said, while the Conservat...Last Octobe...

Always talking Religion and Politics. Friday, August 27, 2010. Down at the Sally. I very rarely mix work with the pleasure of blogging, but if you're interested you can read a few of my job related thoughts at the (slow loading) Salvation Army website here. Sunday, August 22, 2010. My Cousin Rachel by Daphne Du Maurier. Du Maurier was ahead of her time. Her gothic settings in rural. 8216;There are some women, Philip, good women very possibly, who through no fault of their own impel disaster.’. Du Maurier...

Jonathan Chilvers: January 2011
http://jonathanchilvers.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Always talking Religion and Politics. Monday, January 17, 2011. I knew my appetite for ideas had sparked into life when my first thought after watching a Friday night comedy-drama that doesn’t take itself too seriously was to link it to a major socio-religious theory. Theology buffs buzz in when you figure it out, the rest of you why not humour me – it is honestly quite interesting. In the mid 1980s author Walter Wink. Argued that ‘the Myth of Redemptive Violence’. 8220;An indestructible good guy is unal...

Jonathan Chilvers: March 2009
http://jonathanchilvers.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Always talking Religion and Politics. Thursday, March 05, 2009. Fairtrade Future - Kick out the Cowboys. One of the most important and exciting announcements. Of the week has been that Cadbury's are going to make all of their dairymilk bars out of fairly trade cocoa, with a commitment to transferring the rest of their products when they can. In one fell swoop the amount of fairtrade chocolate sold in the UK will almost double. Such thieves and cowboys should be chased out of town and out of business.

Jonathan Chilvers: January 2009
http://jonathanchilvers.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Always talking Religion and Politics. Thursday, January 15, 2009. I have a daughter. My daughter is called Abigail. Hello, would you like to meet my daughter? Nope Sorry, still hasn’t sunk in. Not only do I have a baby in my house, but she’s not going anywhere and she will, God willing, grow up through being a toddler, a child, before herself possibly having children, growing old and dying. I helped start all that - she came from me! My other desires are a little trivial in comparison:. What David cries ...

Jonathan Chilvers: June 2010
http://jonathanchilvers.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Always talking Religion and Politics. Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Prayer adapted from an Indonesian creed. I like the final verse the best. I believe in God, who is love and who has given the earth to all people. I believe in Jesus Chris who came to heal us, and free us from all forms of oppression. I believe in the Spirit of God, who works in and through all who are turned towards the truth. I do not believe in the right of the strongest, nor the force of arms, nor the power of oppression. I keep an eye on.
