Ramblings of Alex: February 2013

Sunday, February 10, 2013. To Know Who You Are. I heard an old story a few years ago that has been heard around the world by billions of people, I'm sure. The author and title are unknown, but the morale of the story has always resonated within me. I think about that story often and compare it to the free agency in which we are given. ".whether the butterfly is dead or alive, it depends on you".it depends on us. it depends on me. How often do we encounter forks in the road? A home surrounded by trees as ...

Ramblings of Alex: June 2014
http://alexhiatus.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 7, 2014. My Student Teaching Experience. Back in December I flew over mountains, hills, and valleys to Northern Virginia. My plane arrived at the stroke of midnight on New Years Eve, or rather, New Years Day I suppose. Good luck or bad luck? Anyway, back on topic, the reason I went to Virginia was to student teach. Why Virginia, you ask? Cue the dramatic reaction). Nonetheless, I was grateful I had the opportunity to go back East and start the beginning of the end. (of my collage caree...

Ramblings of Alex: February 2014

Wednesday, February 5, 2014. My first official post living on the East Coast. I don’t really have an excuse for not updating my blog other than the fact that I just haven’t felt like it. I figured I better write this fast while I’m in the blogging mood, and before I get distracted by some meaningless task. I’m gonna be completely honest and say that moving to Virginia has been an adjustment, and a hard one at that. It’s not easy moving to a place where you know not a single soul. Excuse my wretched look&...

Ramblings of Alex: September 2013
http://alexhiatus.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 25, 2013. Shout out to my older brother. Earlier this month I was finally able to revisit NYC! I have my older brother, Jonny to thank for that. Why? Because the kid got into one of the top podiatry schools in the country! Way to make the rest of us look bad.just kidding. But really, my brother has crazy discipline, ambition, and the smarts. So for the next four years they will be calling New York home. Wish this kid could have been there with us, but he was there in spirit! The Secr...

Ramblings of Alex: June 2015

Thursday, June 4, 2015. I don't know a better way to kick off summer {and end our birthday celebrations} than spend a relaxing afternoon at the majestic Lake Tahoe. There's no place like it. Jenna and I have known each other for a whopping fourteen years. FOURTEEN! We met as awkward twelve-year-olds. She liked ballet, and I. Long talks about everything and nothing. Ramblings of Alex: August 2013
http://alexhiatus.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 28, 2013. I just hit a milestone in my life. Actually, two milestones. This is my last semester, yes, last semester on the UNR campus. I submitted my paperwork for student teaching in Maryland. Or dump a cold bucket of water on my head. Or find me a crystal ball and tell me everything will be okay. Cause this girl is FREAKING OUT! I'll end this post with a fitting quote:. Louis E. Boone. Friday, August 16, 2013. The Beauty of Water. How does one decide? The problem with the ocean is tha...

Ramblings of Alex: May 2014

Thursday, May 8, 2014. These are a few of my favorite things. It's the little things in life we take for grated. Putting on clothes right out of the dryer. The first shower after camping. Crawling in bed with fresh sheets and newly shaved legs. Standing in the shower with the perfect amount of water pressure and an endless stream of hot water. Your alarm goes off, right before you get up, you realize it's the weekend, and fall happily back to sleep. Nailing the perfect messy bun on your first attempt.

Ramblings of Alex: December 2014
http://alexhiatus.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 30, 2014. A Look Back: 2014. This year has been a whirlwind. I can honestly say that 2014 is the year that I truly found myself. I guess moving across the country by yourself will do that to you. I truly feel this year has been my biggest year yet! I'd be foolish not to record some of the events for my own purposes. Some of the bigger moments:. Officially graduated after completing my student teaching at Mercer Middle School. Traveled to new places. Was hired as a first-time coach.

Ramblings of Alex: March 2014
http://alexhiatus.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 3, 2014. Today it’s snowing—a lot actually. I’m currently curled up with a cup of hot tea, a book, and my thoughts. I have lots of thoughts—thoughts about the future, the present, my past, my ambitions. My student teaching will be wrapping up in about six weeks and I will be an official graduate with a Bachelors degree. It’s strange; you never think you’re going to get to this point. The point where you plan to have no plans, or at least no plans that are officially set in stone. So with th...
