Quilts, textiles, inspiration. All posts by kameleonquilt. Annual Spring Report 2016. The photos below were all taken on May 1st, the date I have used to compare the progress of spring for some time now. The woods have just a hint of green, – most trees have only small buds, while a few early ones are sporting tiny leaves. The pussy willow has been out for some time. There is still lots of snow in the mountains and temperatures have been quite low so far. The tulips along the south wall have large buds.

Strik forlæns {forstå baglæns}: juli 2012
http://strikforlaensforstaabaglaensns.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

https://robbielafleur.com/2016/12/12/secret-posts-no-and-some-felting-with-cora
No And some felting with Cora. I was testing how I might be able to make a post of recent family photos to share with far-flung friends this holiday season, since I might not follow through on my usual special photo Christmas card. I didn’t realize that a notice of the test would go out to everyone! There’s nothing in the message right now – really no need to get a password! I’m partly behind on Christmas cards because I just completed the latest issue of the. While I felted the slippers, I thought Cora ...

No Protection | Robbie LaFleur

A new weaving. Guns, targets, and. I wish could symbolize a decrease in guns available, a decrease in the gun culture. The world feels more precarious now, with an election result that seems to ratify those who are angry and scared. So much work lies ahead to create a world where guns are not seen as an answer. My mother’s boyfriend asks (in his sincere but angry way), “Well, if someone is going to shoot your mother, should I shoot them, or just let them shoot your mother? Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

My Favorite Book of 2016: Cloth Lullaby. When granddaughter Cora came for her spring visit, we rode the light rail to the Textile Center, played hide-and-seek among the looms in the Weavers Guild, and I bought a beautiful children’s book about one of my favorite artists,. Cloth Lullaby: The Woven Life of Louise Bourgeois. While she was still a student, her mother died. Louise was heartbroken. She felt abandoned and all alone. A thread, broken. Boat shuttles and stick shuttles — teach them early! Weaving ...

Walking by Doors in London | Robbie LaFleur

Walking by Doors in London. When it comes to intimidating doors on expensive shops, I am daunted by fashion, but not by art — and certainly won’t turn away from a gallery with tapestries. When walking by Buckingham Palace, to Hyde Park, and over to the American Embassy, we headed back through Mayfair you know, in case we wanted to order a Bentley, buy a couple of Italian bags, or switch over to the Connaught Hotel. Featured a show of Robert Motherwell paintings(! I’d like to look at the tapestries. There...

The Gray Yarn I Am Not Using – Yet. Last year when our Scandinavian Weavers Study Group held the RED exhibit. I made postcards. When asked if I needed reimbursement, I said that I would just like some gray wool yarn, bits that people might have left over. I planned to make a big piece with varying textures and tones, along the lines of this test piece. The BEST yarn ever came from my friend Nancy Ellison. Hand spun! Which can be clicked on from my website. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. You are commenting u...

My Blanket in Pakistan. Last year I submitted a blanket as part of an installation to be mounted at the American Embassy in Pakistan by the talented artist Marie Watt. Today I received a note and postcard saying that the installation was delivered in January, 2016, and they have been given the green light to install it between December 5-15. Read about the project at: http:/ www.mariewattstudio.com/projects/textile-society. My blanket is number 4; read about it here. Here is my post and photos here.

How Long Did That Take to Weave? | Robbie LaFleur
https://robbielafleur.com/2017/01/07/how-long-did-that-take-to-weave
How Long Did That Take to Weave? I often get the question, “How long did it take you to weave one of these? And here was the end. One comment on “ How Long Did That Take to Weave? January 8, 2017. I hadn’t heard of danskbrogd–it’s really beautiful, and related to krokbragd, yes? I like the idea of design decisions being made at the loom but I suspect I’d be paralyzed by the thought of getting it “wrong”! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.
