Neither here nor there. August 23, 2014. June 6th was the day – the arrival of my very own printing press! And here it is – my pride and joy:. The press is 20 years old, but you wouldn’t know it. It’s been looked after so well. I endeavor to do the same. Needless to say, I’ve been spending quite a lot of time with my new baby. Neither here nor there. March 14, 2010. The last couple of weeks were both busy and rather uneventful – I’ve been sick again while trying not to be. So, here is some more student work, for a change. These pieces were done by the year 7s – 12 year olds – when we did typography and illuminated letters. They made them to fit the little book which we constructed from various pieces of paper, initial drawings and sketches, and the beautifully worked letter at the beginning. Neither here nor there. February 11, 2014. As the deadline was this week Monday for everybody to submit their prints, there have been parcels with prints arriving on my doorstep for a few days now – it’s been absolutely marvelous! I am really enthusiastic about the work! It’s fantastic to see what everybody has done – and there’s such a variety. There is drypointing, collagraph, stencils, type, etching, silkscreen, monotype, lino, solarplate. It will be a lovely portfolio! This is fun, great fun indeed!

Anyway, we went to the Kunsthalle where a guided was arranged to take the students through the current exhibition about modern sculpture. It was interesting, yet, why do these exhibitions always stop somewhere about 100 years ago? Surely killing a dragon does release some fire? Spatially, the castle is a bit weird. It doesn’t feel high or tall enough for the expanse it is suggesting and...Irgendw...

Neither here nor there. Archive for January, 2015. January 25, 2015. These pieces have been done by year 8 students – 14 year olds. It’s been lovely, trying out all those different colours. The students were mixing them and combining them in all sorts of ways. For black we used a satin glaze, the others are shiny. The students enjoyed the colour and were amazed about how a paste the colour of sludge can turn into green and yellow. I thought the results were utterly charming. A trip to Basel.

My fascination with large birds and birds of prey in particular has been, so far, mainly aesthetic and visual – meaning, I used photographic source material for my drawings of women’s portraits and birds. Neither here nor there. Return to the wild. Return to the wild. April 3, 2011. Today I released my little winter guest back into the wild of my ‘garden’. The weather has become almost summerlike, certainly over this weekend, with temperatures around 26 degrees – so I thought the little creature can probably face such a turn in climate without the danger of immediately being semi-frozen again before it could find somewhere suitable to hide. With its tiny but ever so black tongue. Very sweet.
