Viernes, 30 de enero de 2009. Parati, Trindade … D`Osonho.

Tales From Far Off Lands: January 2010

Saturday, 2 January 2010. The Nazca Lines, Peru – the Final Destination! These enigmatic wonders that have baffled the world for an age drew us towards them like magpies to shiny things. It was yet another tourist site which we felt we must visit; we couldn’t leave Peru without seeing the Nazca Lines! We settled into our bucket seats, studied our ‘line maps’ of 18 numbered sand drawings and as the engine chugged into action we smiled with excitement! So, on the runway, I came to a conclusion - “tha...

Saturday, 28 February 2009. They paved paradise and put up a parking lot (or a tourist resort in this case) - Vang Vieng, Laos. Some people that we spoke to were offendẻd by the rules, we just felt sorry for the geeky British bloke who thought he was funny, and wasn't! At Babylon Guest House, a wide screen TV shows 'Family Guy' on a continuous loop. Strange you may say, well not until we tell you about the rest of the town. Posted by And Purnell. Tales From Far Off Lands: October 2009

Tuesday, 27 October 2009. Our trip to Welsh Patagonia, Argentina. Next to the excavation site there is now a museum and a memorial to the original Welsh settlers. Furthermore, many of the locals we spoke to weren’t aware of the town’s heritage and the people in our hostel had never heard of Aberystwyth; despite that Aberystwyth square was right outside their building! Tuesday, 30 June 2009. More than just a big rock! In the same direction from whence we came, we headed back the Stuart highway to Uluru, making a brief stop at Jim Cotrell’s place, Stuart’s Well, where when we arrived, ten Harley’s pull off towards Alice Springs, that’s the way to do it, we thought! At Stuart’s Well we met Dinky the singing Dingo! Onwards we continued for Curtis Springs, which would be our base for visiting Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Curtis Springs. Posted by And Purnell. Friday, 29 May 2009. A Journey through the Cambodian Countryside. I run back up the steps, like the big girl I am, with a look of sheer horror on my face. “What are you doing? 8221; Andrew asks. “Spider”. I whimper. “She’s got a spider! 8221; “Come on, get off the bus”. He says, obviously not realising what I am saying, the girl has got a tarantula! 8220;Why would they do this? 8221; I ask Andrew. “Perhaps a photo opportunity”. He thinks, how bizarre! 8221; He says. “And just think”, I sa...It’s 4&...

Tales From Far Off Lands: July 2009

Thursday, 23 July 2009. Sydney is one of those cities that you see so much on postcards that you feel you know it before you arrive. It has some really iconic, modern structures - the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and not forgetting Luna Park. These three were of course at the top of our itinerary and it wasn’t hard to fill in time with all the other things the city has to offer. And she has been the best guidebook we’ve ever had! Links to this post. Saturday, 15 August 2009. The day we went to the seaside! A road sign reads “seals next 4 km” and I get busy trying to spot marine life, there are dolphins and whales here too, but all I see are rocks mistaken for sea creatures! On the other side of the hill, we meet two brothers from Gloucestershire, sta...
