In drier times of year we can transport the kayaks by tractor or tuk-tuk to larger lakes nearby that are full year-round. This can often be extended into a longer picnic trip. Groups of hundreds of spinner dolphins congregate to frolic in the calm morning waters. It is sometimes possible to see sperm whales too, although it is necessary to travel further out to sea to witness these majestic creatures. There are two luggage/changing rooms, two outdoor showers and two bathrooms – accessed by raised stone pathways. The Palu Hut can is suitable for couples, families or small groups and the set-up is tailored to the size and requirements of the people staying there. As The Mudhouse’s land is quite large these days, many guests use them to explore the various trails between the two lakes and to get to and from the restaurant area at meal times.
