Reducipes : A Penny Closer
http://apennycloser.com/category/reducipes
I’ve been trying to share this household favorite for a while now but I kept forgetting to take photos of the rub components. Finally I didn’t forget this time and it’s ready to post. My Pork Adobo is an adaptation from a recipe I found in a diet cookbook. Not only is it good for your wallet, it’s good for you! This is a simple combination of lean pork, sweet onions, and spicy tomato sauce all rolled up in a tortilla. How can you go wrong? 1-2 teaspoons canola oil. 2 large sweet onions, sliced. While por...

Reducipe: Mirin Wasabi Glazed Salmon : A Penny Closer
http://apennycloser.com/2008/04/22/reducipe-mirin-wasabi-glazed-salmon
Reducipe: Mirin Wasabi Glazed Salmon. Posted on April 22, 2008 by Melissa. This is one of those recipes that’s easy to make, tastes great, and it’s good for you, too! This is Eric’s most requested salmon dish and every time he finishes, he licks his plate clean. It really is that tasty, folks. This Mirin Wasabi glaze is out of this world. It blends sweet with a little tangy and a little hot. It matches really well with the fattiness of the salmon and complements it beautifully. Mirin Wasabi Glazed Salmon.

The Everchanging World: Moon Time
http://ontologicalthinker.blogspot.com/2009/07/moon-time.html
A little bit of everything, rolled into one. Sunday, July 5, 2009. This is the post I been promising for a long time. The idea is very simple. If you know your basic astronomy, you can use both the moon and the sun to tell time and direction. The Ecliptic is the path the sun takes in the sky. While the sun and moon does not follow the ecliptic dead on, it is still valid to say the sun and the moon rises in the East, and sets in the West. Http:/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecliptic. I believe in the Southern He...

The Everchanging World: October 2008
http://ontologicalthinker.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
A little bit of everything, rolled into one. Tuesday, October 28, 2008. For many of us, our laptops are our lives. and a major investment. So, just like your car, you should take care of your laptop. Even though where I live it does not even reach freezing most of the time, I was curious what the cold could do to a laptop. The following links are just ones about taking care of your laptop in the cold, but the last one is a fun link from a company that makes electronics to withstand the extreme cold.

The Everchanging World: Solar Power Goodness
http://ontologicalthinker.blogspot.com/2009/06/solar-power-goodness.html
A little bit of everything, rolled into one. Sunday, June 21, 2009. I have notice a growing trend in solar power devices. Portable radios are no exception. I borrowed this from a friend. It is solar-powered, hand cranked, has AM/FM radio, along with a headphone jack. It is a good size, and easy to store. It cost about $18 USD. I have a couple more pictures of this, but I covered the important parts. When I get one, I shall let you all know how good it works. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Everchanging World: No compass? No problem.
http://ontologicalthinker.blogspot.com/2008/05/no-compass-no-problem.html
A little bit of everything, rolled into one. Thursday, May 22, 2008. As I have metioned before, as well progress with GPS and other forms of technology, we forget basic skills our societies have struggled to learn. Navigation is one such skill. There was a time where there were no compasses and such; however, the world knew how not to get lost. They also knew the world was round, but I am not getting into that today. (If you care, comment.). 1 The sun rises in the east, and sets in the west. Look for a Bi...

The Everchanging World: Books
http://ontologicalthinker.blogspot.com/2009/07/books.html
A little bit of everything, rolled into one. Wednesday, July 22, 2009. It has to been said that I am lover of books, especially the classics. As technology grows, people do not grow with it. Happy is still happy, and sad is still. Read the classics and learn all the lessons that come with the classics. They are the classics for a reason. There is no reason to be unable to find these books. Http:/ www.worldcat.org/. Best to all, and keep well and safe. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A little bit of everything, rolled into one. Saturday, February 28, 2009. Even Sesame Street Says So. I was watching television, and as I flipped through the channels, I saw a commercial from Sesame Street telling kids/parents to go their site to learn more about preparing for emergencies. I know it bad when the govt tells you to prepare, but when Sesame Street is promoting workshops and site material on this. I am just left with my mouth wide open. Http:/ www.sesamestreet.org/ready/. What's In My Kitchen?: Yellow Rice "Something", Accompanied By the Worst Pictures of Food Ever
http://whatsinmykitchen.blogspot.com/2010/04/yellow-rice-something-accompanied-by.html
What's In My Kitchen? I'll show you mine if you show me yours. Thursday, April 22, 2010. Yellow Rice "Something", Accompanied By the Worst Pictures of Food Ever. So first thing's first: I had about 3 onions left from last week's CSA box, so those were the first to go in the pot with a good glug of olive oil, ready to soften to my heart's content. I grabbed a half of bell pepper out of the fridge and a handful of shredded carrots and threw them in. Then I forgot to take a picture and jumped in the shower.

World War One and a Dime
World War One and a Dime. Portland, Maine, United States. View my complete profile. Monday, March 14, 2005. At the time it was fought, and this is a war in which my mother’s father fought in, there was no history that could be compared to the amount of men and technology amassed for the conflict that was to occur. It was the early years of the twentieth century,. Germany felt especially disenfranchised. As a national entity it hadn’t been united until 1871, and was therefore a latecomer to the world ...

A Penny Closer
The Costs Of Bringing It All. Posted on May 28, 2008 by Eric. My brother has been planning a long distance move that’s supposed to happen next month. Until I talked to my mother the other day, I had no idea how much it would actually cost him to move halfway across the country. I figured it would probably cost a few thousand dollars when all was said and done. It’s now going to cost over $5000 to get all that stuff carried long distance in a moving truck. When he arrives at his destination he won’t...
