Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Lecture 2- Michael Cardinali. I went to Michael's lecture because I was very curious about what is work was like. I had him for a teacher last semester in black and white photography. He didn't talk much about his work during class so I was very excited to hear him talk about his work and share his ideas and influences. Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Contact sheet for week 1&2- "beyond the single image". Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Regarding the Pain of Others- chapter 7&8&9. Then she g...

Sunday, February 27, 2011. Criticizing Photographs: Chapter 8. Sally Mann, Jessie at 5, 1987. Criticizing Photographs: Chapter 7. Chapter 7 explains the photography theory thoroughly. It first talks about the theory and how people can practice it. Who uses and needs the theory? Or does everyone need theories of photography? The rest of the chapter explains the different theories we have for photography and whether photographs are moral or not. Lynette Molnar, Talking back, 1990. Sunday, February 20, 2011.

Friday, March 30, 2012. Currier Museum of Art. The Currier has an exhibit right now called A New Vision: Modernist photography. i really enjoyed looking at the various types of photographs throughout this exhibit. I think there was a very wide range of photographers that had very different styles. It was very overwhelming choosing which photographs to focus on. I liked so many of them! Brett Weston- Untitled Nude. Carl A Hyatt- Untitled Nude. The color, print quality, and composition was horrible! One im...

Thursday, October 25, 2012. Still life in class assignment (My favorites). Tuesday, October 16, 2012. Tuesday, October 9, 2012. IR photography opens up a new visual dimension for the photographer, a somewhat 'different' way of looking at the world around us. The spectrum of light is much wider than what the human eye can capture". Sophia and I are working together for the collaboration project. We are thinking about printing on canvas. I want to experiment printing on something other than paper! I am goi...

Thursday, November 29, 2012. Artist Lecture #2 : Matt Hutton on 11/15/12. The artist of this lecture was Matt Hutton and he designs and makes furniture. I never knew you could be so creative when designing a piece of furniture but it was truly amazing. His life story and his journey through being an artist, was very inspiring. Even though I didn't relate to his actual work and designs, I could relate to his philosophy when making art and his way of getting there. He used a lot of things as inspiration th...

Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Monday, February 20, 2012. This is an example of one of the pieces I can appreciate for its symbolic nature; however, I do not find the piece appealing on its own and from afar. It is made up of barbie dolls, depicting the number of breast augmentations done in the US. Powerful message, but compositionally and aesthetically not as appealing. Wednesday, February 15, 2012.
